Hi guys,
I am new to training and have been going to the gym for a couple of months now. I need advice on how to improve workout.
main problem is that I don't seem to have enough energy/power to properly do the weights/machines part of the training. When I do cardio like the threadmill, etc., it seems I have all the energy in the world and can endure for hours. But when I hit the weights and the machines I get tired quickly and more often than not cannot complete all the sets. Can you offer any advice on what I can do to improve training?
Cheers,
Mark

Hello!
Are you performing cardio first, before you lift or vice versa? What are you eating before you go to the gym?

Re: Newbie question
Hi again,
I always do cardio after I lift. I generally eat cereal with milk like an hour before gym (I go in the mornings). I wonder if that is enough in terms of calorie intake.
Thanks again!

Re: Newbie question
i usually have a cop of coffee and a piece of fruit in the morning before a workout, that does it for me.... maybe some coffee could give you a boost?
Re: Newbie question
Caffeine constricts the blood vessels, so it could have the ability to slow down the bloodflow to the brain and the muscles, increasing the potential for lactic acid buildup
It also blocks iron intake affect Erythrocyte production and myoglobin production increasing anemia risk, so you'd have the potential for less oxygen circulating around the body, less oxygen stored in the muscles and slower oxygen flow as well.
To me caffeine is the enemy of exercise and should be avoided.

I would change your breakfast to a protein source and carbs instead of stricktly milk and ceral. You could try a few eggs/egg whites and some oatmeal, which might gove you a little more energy to lift.
