Surprisingly: intense exercise makes you eat less

Post by fitncer »

This actually was a surprise for me and I think it also goes against conventional wisdom.
... the intense exercise will ultimately help you to eat less, not more.
In a study conducted at the University of Western Australia, high intensity interval training or HIIT was found to suppress the hunger-stimulating hormone ghrelin. Having high levels of ghrelin makes you crave food – especially the high-calorie kind. In fact, excess ghrelin is a focus of several obesity studies.
Here is how it works, explain university researchers. http://www.emaxhealth.com/1506/workout- ... u-eat-less

Has anyone felt less appetite after a very intense exercise? I would like to ask how intense it should be to make one to want to eat less.

Thank you.

I actually am the opposite. The harder I workout the hungrier I become.

Hmmm... Interesting article! But when I do heavy weights or high intensity cardio like cardio kick boxing... I get hungry after the workouts! So, I say... I earn to eat some good food! :P

Well you need to eat regularly, but eating after a workout means you've earned the food more :).

However this does not mean you can simply workout an then splurge with a high calories pizza or something like that, as that's counterproductive .
