need some advice - i hope to keep this short but i have alot of info to add so here goes.......
let me start by saying i have a DR appt next month to have thyroid and blood sugar checked
i am 43, ex military and played some college football so i am not a small dude build wise.
i am 6'0" and 280lbs.
weight will fluctuate between 275-285 when working out, but NEVER below 270.
workout is as follows:
monday, wednesday, friday
45 minute spin class (i push till i am soaked head to toe)- then 40-50 minutes on treadmill at 15% incline 3.0 mph.
tuesday, thursday
weight training for approx 90-95 minutes. (i push super hard here - no rest between sets - i lift heavy - max bench is currently 415lbs)
i cant cut out the weight training as it is the only thing motivating me to continue to go to the gym.
20-25 minutes dry steam sauna everyday after working out.
i am limited to certain cardio due to bad knees
i do not work out on weekends
calorie wise, i log everything i eat, and currently taking in approx. 2200 calories a day in food.
during the week i eat healthy (protien bars ect breakfest / chicken salads lunch / grill bird and veggies dinner - try to snack between with
granola bars and such but dont always do so consistantly)
i dont go overboard on weekends, but i dont eat "healthy" either.
i know i am burning alot of calories at the gym, and i have been told many times i am not taking in enough calories to lose weight BUT>>>
i have changed diet before to take in as little as 1500 calories a day for a month....
i have also changed diet before to take in as many as 3500 calories a day for a month....
regardless of how many calories or how hard i work out...... i NEVER NEVER NEVER can get below 270.
tale of the tape from scale this am:
wt 288.8
bf 42.6
water 41.9
bmi 38.2
i am sure i am making a ton of mistakes - any advice would be much appreciated on either the diet and/or workout issue -
i am just frustrated, but it wont keep me out of the gym - just want to see better results for effort.
thanks for your time.

Hi Ted, good to talk to you.
I'd gov for weight training 3x a week every other day and intersperse it with cardio on 2 of the other 4 days, so it looks a bit like this.
Day 1. Weights
Day 2. Cardio
Day 3. Weights
Day 4. Day off
Day 5. Cardio
Day 6. Weights
Day 7. Cardio
Keep the weights as a TBT system hitting every muscle group mostly with compound stuff for 8-10 reps per set and then limit to around 60-80 minutes tops.
As for the diet, how does it stack up on a daily basis based on meal times and what you eat those times?
