Begin at the begining MOTIVATION

Post by marshall1 »

Fitness for the Unfit
Part One (Motivation)

Hi, name is Craig S. Carter. I am a not for profit certified personal trainer and a former unfit person. If you are currently unfit, I am writing this to you and your loved ones. I say this because being out of shape affects you and all the people you come in contact with. It has an affect on the people that are closet to you, the people you work with, and the stranger you interact with on a daily basis. I did not learn this from a book or some clinical study, although I have since read a great deal of information that backs these statements up, I learned it through own experience. I am going to share with you how to go from where you are now to where you want to be without starving yourself or hurting yourself with over excursion. Don’t be mislead by that statement. You are going to have to make a significant effort. You will do things that are not comfortable; but you will be doing things that are changing your life for the better.

If we are to start on this journey together you are going to have to find the same thing I found; MOTIVATION. For me it came in the form of a picture. I fancy myself an amateur photographer. I took some black and white photos of me, wife, and friends during Christmas and New Years 2003/2004. I had them developed early 2004. When I first saw the big fat person in the photos I didn’t recognize him. I was me; Bulging gut, triple chin, swollen, blotchy skin, horrible looking me! I was embarrassed. I could not believe I looked like that. That was the beginning.

I know your asking, ok Craig, get to the point. The point is; I have gotten in better shape with the same old recipe that has been touted for years: Diet and Exercise. What I am offering is not a quick . It is a life long change.

Are you ready to get started? Stop drinking regular sodas, eating anything that comes in a bag. That doesn’t sound like much but I know it is a mountain. It’s a mountain if you don’t have MOTIVATION. If you have motivation; fat picture, heart attack, newly diagnoses diabetes, being winded after walking up a flight of stairs, the list can go on and on; you will make changes.

Next; start exercising. What does that mean? It means to get up off your butt every day. Start walking every day. If you’re in better shape, then run and walk. Start doing resistance training three times a week. I recommend a full body work out to start off with. Simply that means work your chest, back, biceps, triceps, shoulders, abs, and legs. I will get in to specifics later, but there are many magazines and websites that can help with specifics.

O.K. what is your motivation? Find it and you have found a gift that will bring you from where you are now to where you want to be.

I am with you all the way.

motivation is I'm going to be a PT. Also I learned in Kinesiology classes that the human has the potential to live to 120 years of age...that's goal.

Also I have self respect. When I see a person I think less of them because they don't have the self respect to change themselves.

Their are many things that can lead to obesity; injury, depression, hormonal imbalance, upbringing, and the list goes on. Sometimes we have to deal with the emotional before we can get to the physical. You will find as a PT getting clients to stay focused on their goal rather than their problems is a challenge. Sometimes we have to help our clients see that they are worth respecting themselves enough to change.

I agree you have to love and respect yourself before you can make any changes towards bettering your life, but I don't think less of people. Some people just need a little push in the right direction to gets things started. wife leaving me was push, and not leaving kids fatherless was all the motivation I needed (hope that made sense).

424lbs to 332lbs in 7months and a whole sh!t load more to go!

eat 5 meals a day, weight train 3 days, cardio 2 days (30min), pretty much just took the advice of the people on this board, read the stickies, applied it, and saw results.

Yeah these guys give a lot of good information that you would have to pay a pretty penny for elsewhere.
