I don't know what rooted means, but competition is a lot of fun. What I've found is in most feds (from the people I chat with and own fed) is that the elite lifters are really supportive of novices. You end up learning a lot about your skills and weaknesses from these people. At last comp, there was a girl who made level 2 numbers (it was her first time competing). Even though she is going to be a tough cookie to beat, EVERYONE cheered her on and encouraged her. Afterwards, one of the judges who is also a lifter in her weight class, helped her out with sumo technique. This is just how it goes, it's really just about the lifting, learning and having a blast.

So honestly I need to loose weight and increase lifts to make it worthwhile, lol. Maybe we'll think about it in a year:)

Hit 430 on squat (Much more than I tough) !

Bad news now ... After working up to that new PR, at the momentum of lift abs were having trouble to "hold" (Felt more than usual "abs work"). This session was on monday and abs still hurt, almost like soreness but it's not soreness. I have not been able to lift on wed and I am going to see a "pro" this week-end ... Any similar experience ?

I've had the muscle pain through the abs with squats and really felt it the next day. And even still feeling it 2 days after but not enough to make lifting not possible. Although, only doing squats once a week currently.

Curious, could this be a not stretching after your workouts issue? At over 400 your abs are doing a workout by themselves lol. Perhaps its time to start a stretching routine for after your lifting? It will help with flexibility, circulation and muscle relaxation from strenous activity. Just a thought.

Cheers Chris

is it "fatigue" soreness or something like "mild strain" type soreness

Hard to tell but it's not fatigue. Sometimes I can have muscle fatigue/soreness to an extreme point after reaching 1RM but I know what it is and it doesn't make unable to lift afterward ...

Vamp, many studies shows that post-workout stretching as NO impact on DOMS/Soreness ... And yes before I was doing core exercises along with main lift but it's not doable anymore lol, heavy deads and squat does more than all the job ...

hard to tell then...if you can still lift what you can lift then it doesn't seem a problem b then it may be 'the calm before the storm" and you might really hurt yourself in the comp lifting as heavy as you can...i suppose we'll have to wait and see what the doctor says

also you do need specififc core work for powerlifting, westside blokes do a heap of it
