Ok i hope i post this in the right section! So i wonder should everyone take a multivitamin when they get to a certain age?
I am 40 grrr.. soon 41 but anyway i don't take nothing except for B12 because last year they notice i was very low 118 when it should be between 350 and 800 so i guess i am stuck taking this for live.
But what about multivitamin!
Vitamin D!
Garlic vitamin!
Calcium!
Fish oil....
Omega 3
Should i start taking those for better health? Its so hard to know, there is so much publicity about this is good for that and this for this... like its confusing...
One day they said that you should take Calcium supplement then the next day they said that women who take extra calcium supplement are more sugget of have heart attach...
Firstly, go and check a site out called Algaetech.
You will find a calculator which lists different foods, and calculates what percentage of your Bone minerals / vits, you consume per day from your diet.
If it says you're consuming 80% or more of the GDA's for things, particularly Calcium (1,200mg's), and Vit D, (420mg's approx), then don't worry about the Calcium and Vit D supps, but if you're having quite a lot less, then perhaps consider the supps, to boost intake.
You can manipulate the numbers on it too, so if you eat 1/2 a stipulated amount, or 1.5 or 2 serves of an amount of any listed food, change the number from 1 on the serving list, to 0.5, or 1.5, or 2 or whatever the portion size is.
Calcium has been linked in some cases to possible obstruction of Arterial pathways, so if you want to take Calcium you could, but obviously as I said, don't do it if your Calcium intake and Vit D is satisfactory, incase you ramp up your Calcium significantly above the 1,200 average. 1,300 mg's daily isn't really a problem, but 1,800 or some figure like that is too much obviously.
Garlic, can be a choice if you want.
You don't need Fish Oil and Omega 3, as you're basically doubling up. Take one or the other, and then just have double the amount of which ever one you're using.
The only thing to bear in mind is the amount of both, and extras in it. If the Omega 3 is 1g per capsule and the Fish Oil is 1g per capsule, but the Omega 3 contains possible other things like a bit of 6 or 9, or Vit E, or anything else the Fish Oil doesn't, then go for the Omega, providing the cost of 1 months supply is relative. If the price of such a supp is massively different don't bother. You have to justify any possible added extras in it, over the added cost.
Also by generic if possible. Don't buy a fancy brand. If you have access to a reputable pharmacy company, possibly a national brand company, use their products, that generally have a no frills packing style, as the cost could be 10-20% lower than a fancier brand.

Thanks for the info Boss Man!
I will check the site!
I read in a magasine that you can take up to 1,000 unit of Vitamin D a day its good for you!
Hum i will check the site you gave me but i am sure i am low in calcium because i don't drink milk very rare, hum well i guess i eat yogout and cottage cheese so that in the calcium category... i just don't want to hand up with osteo when i am older because mom has this she is 60yrl and she told me that very oftne she has pain in her joint and suff and also have a busrite i not too sure if this is how you prononce this in english.
I think i will take garlic pill it act like a blood thinner i think no, so for a women its good to help not to develop blood clot and stuff like that cardiovasculare disease keep your blood clean.
So you would suggest Omega 3 better then fish oil...(Sorry like i said before i am French and sometime i have to make people repeat because i have a hard time to understand.. but....
Hum about the generic brand.... i did not know i always taught that its not too good to buy like the grocery brand so i go to the health store to buy B12 i buy a brand that call Factory something! Its just that aunt told me to be carefull when you buy vitamin because sometime you don't get what you want in them so she told me to make sure i buy a good brand!
You can have more Vit D than 420 mg's, but that is a GDA, based on consumption from food, as are all RDA's they aren't and shouldn't be based on supplementing as well.
About Omega 3 Fish Oil, not necessarily. Fish Oil to knowledge is basically an Omega 3 source, but what I said was check the difference between a Fish Oil, and an Omega 3.
If you find an Omega 3 with small amounts of things like Vit E, Omega 6, etc etc, and you only find Fish Oil content with Fish Oil, then as long as the Omega 3 price isn't that much higher, it's worth it for the added extras.
As for generic, brand O T C meds, I'm talking from a reputable Pharmaceutical outlet or chain of shops, not just stuff you get on a street corner from a little independant retailer.
Obviously a good Pharmacy chain, or supermarket chain with a reputable pharmacy section, should do quality assured own brand OTC meds, for around 10-20% less money than a big brand equivalent.
The site you told me to check Algaetech i check it out but is there a place there where you add the food you eat and stuff so it can gave you you vitamin intake of the day because i can't find it... there is two thing or i am blind or i need eye glasses.... you pick..lol
