Big names in exercise?

Post by mzaruba423 »

I was wondering what some names of people are who have made a big impact on weightlifting and exercise in general. All I can really think of besides like Richard Simmons and those people are like

Chad Waterbury
Christian Thibideau
Arnold

Any imput would be great!

Ronnie was at show last October and all I can say is Holy Shit...that dude is BIG....actually big doesn't even describe him. Pictures are deceiving and until you see these guys in person...you really have no idea how massive they really are. I met Jay Cutler in 2007...what a good family man. He speaks very kindly of his wife Kerry and always gives her kudos for her support. Although I'm not much into this type of bodybuilding, and it truly doesn't do anything for me, it definitely is unbelievable when you get to see these guys up close. I felt like they could crush me with their thumb

Some people would quote Joe Weider, founder of the O' comps, and many other training techniques over the years.

He has been criticised by many before, especially for having collaborations with big BB mags, and sometimes appearing to promote the idea, that the Arnie size build comes from just hard work, and Weider Protein powder style supps.

However rightly or wrongly he has inflouenced BB since the 30's, and nobody can deny that, regardless of their opinion or impression of him.

Magnus Sammuelsson
Mariusz Pudzianowski
Magnus Ver Magnusson
Phil Pfister
etc, etc.

OK so they're not household names (not here anyway) but I admire these types of athletes.

Good names, but if Pudzianowski had been properly banned, after his DQ one year for testing positive, he'd be less of a name than he is.

Gotta give credit to Jack LaLanne. He brough fitness to TV before anybody else.

Current day fitness icons, IMO would include:

Billy Blanks
Cathe Friedrich
Tony Horton
Karen Voight
Kathy Smith
Alwyn Cosgrove
