you want abs? then get down the gym and get into some serious heavy weights. compound lifts such as squats and deadlifts will work your abs more than direct ab exercises will. obviously overall diet is important too. i never work abs directly, but i do have quite a defined 6 pack because i lift heavy and eat right. also stop working abs every day your just wasting your time and energy.

For a beginner working abs is not necessary, but once you get up there in the heavy weights you do need to do some ab exercises from time to time otherwise some of your compound lifts will go to shit.RK19 wrote:you want abs? then get down the gym and get into some serious heavy weights. compound lifts such as squats and deadlifts will work your abs more than direct ab exercises will. obviously overall diet is important too. i never work abs directly, but i do have quite a defined 6 pack because i lift heavy and eat right. also stop working abs every day your just wasting your time and energy.
TRUE. deadlifts and squats WONT get your abs to show. no matter how many of those you do, you won't get the abs you want. you're better off doing direct ab work. dont get me wrong though, squats and deads are the best exercises and you should DO THEM MORE. but if you want abs, you should do some direct ab work. but if i were you, i'd forget about the abs for now and concentrate on lifting heavy and putting on some serious muscle. then you can worry about your abs.HoustonTexan wrote:For a beginner working abs is not necessary, but once you get up there in the heavy weights you do need to do some ab exercises from time to time otherwise some of your compound lifts will go to shit.RK19 wrote:you want abs? then get down the gym and get into some serious heavy weights. compound lifts such as squats and deadlifts will work your abs more than direct ab exercises will. obviously overall diet is important too. i never work abs directly, but i do have quite a defined 6 pack because i lift heavy and eat right. also stop working abs every day your just wasting your time and energy.

i gave you sound advice, ditch the ab exercises for now, and get a good weightlifting programme and diet routine going-no need for abs at this early stage. like you stated your a beginner, if you start obsessing about abs, all thats going too happen is you will get discouraged because your not seeing results and end up giving up.
Clean Diet and an effective weight training program with HIIT cardio 2-3 times a week will help you. I believe RK was really trying to help you when you requested advice. Check out the nutrition section for an eating plan and when you go to the gym...stay away from the machines. Use free weights as much as you can with proper form. Good luck to you. And by the way I agree with RK...abs are way overrated. I like nice shoulders and strong back...a great smile helps too
