One thing to beware of with Fruit is, that most Fruits don't digest too well in the Stomach, when mixed with other things. So if you eat anything liike Fruit Cereals, Bars and Yoghurts, or you make customised Cereals and Yoghurts with Fruit, you might get less use of the nutrition than you should.

You can avoid this to a large extent, by giving your Fruit 10-15 minutes to start digesting, then eat the other food.

Thanks Boss - it's a habit of mine even though I know they might lose some nutritional value. I love blueberries and strawberries, but not all by themselves.

I suppose fat free whipped cream on top of them alone is a no no? :)

Yep, a no-no.

You could possibly mix them up into some kind of smoothie. Maybe differing berry types compliment each other, so if you just whacked them into a blender, possibly with a bit of Water to help them liquify a bit better, that might work as a compromise on the taste.

You'd have to experiment with that, and see how it worked.

son made me a protein shake today that was delicious!! Please tell me it's ok :) He made me 1/2 of the recipe as it makes a lot.

1/2 c fat free milk
4 heaping tbsp Vanilla Yogurt
Scoop of Vanilla Protein 26 g
1/4 c mixed frozen fruit
2 heaping tbsp of concentrated frozen orange juice

Blend with a few ice cubes and it's great!

Maybe this is how I can get some fruit in OR does the fact that it includes yogurt and milk make it a no no :(

I thought after workout I would have protein with water and a banana on the side. Whole grain cereal or oatmeal 15 minutes later.

I bought "Body Fortress, Super Advanced Whey Protein" as I liked it better than the GNC Brand - it seems to have all the good stuff in it. Is it one of the good ones? Hard to believe I've already gone through a 2 lb container, and GNC Soy is almost gone too! I use that sometimes on non weight days.

Today:

husband went with me so I didn't have enough time to do what I wanted as he had only 45 minutes. I should have stuck to something I'd done before but tried to mix it up and had to keep stopping to read 101 Exercise Book :)

Warmed Up with 5 minute bicycle - level 15
Additional Warm Up Exercises with 10lb weights (lightish) Torso Twist, Alternating Front Punch, Woodchoppers

Walking Lunges 30 lbs (15lb ) 4 x 10
Single Arm DB Row - 25 lbs - 3 x 8 - Right shoulder problem :(
Push Ups 1 x 10
Pull Ups - 4 x 5 - with assist
Wide Lat Pull Downs 50 lbs. 1 x 10, 60 lbs. 2 x 6
Low Row 50 lbs. 1 x 10

Multi Rep Shoulder Press - RLB 4 x 5
Incline Bench Row 2 x 5
DB Pull Over 2 x 10
DB Flys with Supinated Wrists 2 x 6

Shoulder problem getting worse :( Am thinking it's from an old injury, about 30-35 years ago I played tennis in a 5 hour round robin, and after it was over I began to play (for fun) with another couple. I served the ball and arm stayed in the downward position and I couldn't move it - excrutiating pain - of course being young and foolish never saw a doctor. Over the years had issues, for ex, when I coached Little Leage for 4 years I couldn't pitch with right arm beyond a few pitches without aggravating the shoulder. Now with lifting it's acting up again. Sounds like I need to see a doctor and it will undoubtedly impede progress <pout>

Food today:

5 AM Protein shake with mixed fruit, 4 tbls yogurt, 1/2 organic fat free milk

Immediately after workout - banana and protein with 8 oz water.

7 AM - Whole grain cold cereal - 3/4 c soy milk (no fruit)

10 AM - 1 HB egg, 2 slices of light 7 grain toast with almond nut butter - low fat cheese stick - sm slice of red pepper

Planned remaining meals:

12:30 PM - Chicken stir fry in sm whole wheat pita bread - (red peppers, onions, garlic, carrots, mushrooms & chicken, made with a bit of olive oil, soy sauce, sesame seeds and fresh hot salsa)

3:00 rest of red pepper, celery sticks

4:30 - 5 oz chicken breast (in the car on the way to appt.) couldn't eat planned salad

5:30 - Cottage Cheese (4 oz 2 %) 100 cal pack of almonds

7:30 - Skipped cod meal, had Whole Grain Cereal w/3/4 c soy milk (wasn't feeling good, sore throat emerging - went to bed early)

Cardio today, normal HIIT - only did 5 sprints at 6.8 mph level 4 - 25 minutes, 3 min. warm up, 2 min cool down - after sprints increased incline to 6, finished at 3.4 mph. Didn't want to push it. Might call doctor today for cold/sore throat symptoms.

Lots of late colds and flus going around. We just got over everyone in this house being sick, thank goodness one at a time. Drink your fluids and make some homemade chicken soup. I understand that something in the chicken bones, (if you made the stock from them) has an antibiotic effect, which is why chicken soup has always been a remedy for a cold.

And here I thought Cheese-It's would cure me

Ok- just a momentary blip - I just couldn't resist these little 100 cal packs of Cheese-It's I had left over from previously eating habits. Guess not feeling good weakened will power :(

I have an appointment at 4 PM today with pulmonary specialist . Being a smoker for so many years (not for 15 months though!) I always worry about any cold symptoms escalating, especially with this Swine Flu going around - and I trust this guy with life!

I'll try hand at some chicken soup later today. I'm taking 1000 mg of Vit C and a Multi - so hopefully this will pass quickly. I'm worried about getting out of sync with workouts! :)

Thursday Day Off

Today:

5 minute Warm up Bicycle Level 15

Dead Lifts 50 lbs 3 x 10
Single Arm Shoulder Press 15 lbs 3 x 8
DB Rows - 30 lbs . 3 x 8 both arms (increased from 25lb weights)
Incline Bench Press - First Time! 65 lbs. 3 x 8

Lunges 2 x 10, Reverse Lunges 2 x 10 - holding 10 lb disks
Lat Pull Down 60 lbs. 2 x 8

That's it for today.

I think I need to increase weights more, dead lifts especially. I also need to get back to pull ups and push ups. I have a really stupid question? I thought pull ups and chin ups were the same...guess I should check youtube but what's the difference?
