Glutamine
Glutamine is an amino acid that has many different functions in the body. Some bodybuilers praise it, others don't.
What are everyone's thoughts on Glutamine as a bodybuilding supplement?

What brands are cheap and useful? I was looking at High Power's glutamine http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/hp/glutamine.html . I'm not very familiar with that brand though. Any suggestions?

Dissolves good with protein shake post workout and no gritty taste compared to others I have tried and cost isn't too bad. This one lasts me a while.

I use the Nutrisport product made in Wigan England.
I do find the gritty taste comment perplexing, only because Glutamine should be a standardised product world-wide, so I don't understand how one brand can have a differing texture to another.
Though only having tried and like the brand I use now, I can't really comment.

Possible you got a Friday Night tub Boop, in other words some guy rushed it through the machine, so he could nip off early for a beer with the guys.
Although again, I cannot say if that is true, or there is a discrepancy with the way some companies process it.
RK, Glutamine, increases Protein synthesis, and is good for things Immune function, and Sleep patterns, as it is a mild Neurotransmitter.
The classic ways to take it are.
1. 10g after workouts and before bed.
2. 5g after workouts and before bed, some also like 5g with Breakfast.
A lot of good Protein Powders have it boosted anyway, but it could still be taken perhaps before bed on it's own, or with Breakfast, if you have a solid Protein source or sources instead of any Protein Powder.
Some take it before workouts, but I have done that, and feel it a little better afterwards. 1, failry heaped Tspn, 5g approx, mixes easily in about 1-2 inches of water, with virtually zero taste. Plus it's a very cheap substance to buy, and even dosing it 2 x a day, 5g per dose, you could get about 5-6 weeks out of a 500g amount.

Boss man, maybe you can clarify this for me.
After reading several glutamine labels, I see some that say "as partially Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein" when refering to glutamine.
Some labels show wheat protein and others don't. Is their an advantage of one over the other?
Also, what do you think about free form glutamine vs. glutamine peptides when complimenting it with whey protein? Something I read says peptides absorb better, but that doesn't make sense to me.
