Mine is also quite relaxed. But I do have a theory. What I have learned from 5 years in the gym is that new people might be treated differently off the start. I have seen a lot of people come and go over that time. To be honest it’s pretty much been the same regulars at gym working out at the same time every day. The faces don’t change to often and everyone sort of knows each other. So if people don’t know you they might seem stuck up.

To make a long story short you might have to put in some time to get respect from the people in your gym. Try not to let it bug you though. Your there to workout first not to make friends

where is that? the one i go to seems like a prison, like if u look at sumone the wrong way they will stab u later or sumthing.. either that or u have to be part of the popular crown to be looked at.. its small things like that that make it so much more intimidating to workout

Yeah… I felt that way too when I fist started going to the Downtown gym (Downtown of busy San Francisco) next to work place(s). A lot of HOT HOT HOT people there and I felt soooo uncomfortable and out of place. What I dislike most are the Personal Trainers there. I understand they are working with their clients but some of them are rude and stuck up… I’m not saying all PT are like that… it just happens to be a lot of them in area… Like taking a lot of space and slowly kicking well… more like pushing me out of spot… especially when I’m doing weights and taking bench without asking!!!!!! Or when I’m in the stretching room… kind of push me to the corner of the room and taking the whole room for just 1 client with a PT… BLAH!

Then... this sales lady always come up to me and asked if I want a personal trainer and always telling me I should get one to me help lose weight… It seems like every month she asks me once or twice… sigh… I decline her because it’s out of budget besides I’m already losing weight doing what I’m doing already!

After months of feeling uncomfortable in that gym… I still kept going and doing what I do… I got used it… thoughts about those stuck up people… is Kiss Azz… because I’m there to work on myself & goals. I just have Ipod and start running or lifting weights.…. I don’t really notice those people there as much… and NO ONE takes bench anymore because I’m a "regular" doing weights there 3 times a week there!

I also agree that it’s the gym too and the kind of people there. On the weekends... I go to the gym closer to house and it’s more relaxed… Hot people there but they are more relaxed and easy going….

I can understand why you’re intimidated but I think if your working alone and not with a group or have a PT to work with you… you can feel out of place because you’re (I too) are out of shape. But it’s totally about getting used to it!

Don't let one bad day stop you from going to the gym to reach your goals!
Just like Lens said.. "We ALL have bad days...yet we wake up and do it all again in the morning"... :D

Don't GIVE UP!!!

You have nothing to worry about. You are a Young Lady with very good looks. The rest WILL come, if you stick at it. You can see from the photos, I'm assuming they're you're kids, that you are proving yourself ot be a great rolemodel, and caving in to a few numpties won't do anything for you, or your kids, as they will just learn that Mum tried to do something important, and got browbeaten into failing.

Your actions, by sticking to your goals, will teach them self focus, discipline, and good living, are cornerstones to a long hopefully happy life.

One of them is even playing about with some of your stuff, which is encouraging, and by staying on plan, they will grow up, watching you grow down :P, and they will potentially learn a lot from your transformation, and from your example, and they will be more likely to be going down the right road in 8-10 years time, not down a wrong one, that involves things like petty crime, drugs etc etc.

You certainly have a right to look at your body and think of it like you do your face. You clearly have great genetics, and maybe in the future, you might decide to go one step further, and do what Cassie is doing, which is get ready for a competition.

Not saying it has to be that way for all females, but your perseverance, and your desire to want more for your body, and also good health when your old, should be two motivating factors, that keep your focused.

Certainly you can see that you ARE someone, who IS deserving of better physical health. You clearly are able to love and care for yourself, and that will transfer over to your kids.

So you have 3 main reasons for not caving in.

1. Your immediate health.

2. Your long-term health.

3. Your kids futures.

Don't be afraid to question yourself, and don't be afraid sometimes to fall. it's not how you fall that is the main thing, it's how quickly you get back up again, and not wollow in a false sense of failure.

I certainly see someone who is deserving of better for yourself physically, and shouldn't be put off by a few fools, with an iffy attitude.

If you haven't got the strength of character to overcome a few of those, you WILL fail, but if you have that strength, you WILL succeed, and judging by your latter comments, you've realised you have the strength, and will overcome, which is a big step in getting where you want to be, and it is also an important factor in being where you want to be, because if mind and emotions aren't synchronised, the physical you won't come good, as all 3 must have symbiosis, to help create the right circumstances with which to succeed.

You DO look feminine and glowing, and the rest WILL come, so chin up, walk tall, and no worries okay. You're worth a lot to yourself and your kids, so don't ever let anybody devalue that okay.

GOOD LUCK.

:).

that's why I changed gyms. In current one, the gym is about the size of a garage. no fancy equipment and only serious lifters there. there's also two gyms. there the same sizes and they have olympic weights and platforms.

Planet Fitness is relaxed? They have you arrested for grunting. Doesn't sound relaxed to me.
