Newbie jogger needs advice!

Post by eviltapanga »

Hey everyone! Since I joined this forum, its changed workout routine for the best with all the tips and stuff!

I really want to start jogging, I'm a little afraid though! I have a bad knee, real creaky from jogging. I'm planning on wearing a knee brace, but thinking of investing in a better one. I have one made by tensor that velcros on, sometimes its hard to get it just right. It also has a hole for the knee cap... any reccomendations appreciated for a good one!

Also any other tips or suggestions for starting jogging in general. How long to run for, etc... I already do 35 mintues of cardio 6 days a week. I'm looking to replace one of 5 elipitical sessions with jogging.

I take a cartilage suppliment for sure!

I wouldn't exceeed 20-30 minutes, and see how that goes. Also might need to stick to a flat area, incase going up and down slopes caues additional stress.

I have been looking into it and I'm going to try HIIT for sure... eliptical's not been working for me and HIIT theories explain why... after 6+ years on that thing, it was good to get outside and run... why didn't I do that before?

If I do HIIT, any suggestions for weights, do I do weights on off days? Is aeorbic exercise okay to do on the side? Or would that undermine the anaerobic HIIT sessions?

Thanks,
