Newbie advice please

Post by vitalsign0 »

Hey everyone, I could use some help.

I'm 31, 6'4", and weigh about 284lbs. That is mostly fat. I don't do much exercise since job is computers.

I'm trying to get into working out but there is so much conflicting information on sets and reps that it gets frustrating to try and form a plan. 1 place will tell you to do 1 set of 10 reps, another will say 3 sets of 10 reps, etc.

What would be some common sense to follow? I just want to lose weight and gain mucsle. I would love to change the shape of body. (to not have such a big ).

Any advice? Thanks!

The best advice I can give you is to eat right! You will never loose your if you don’t. Diet is number one. As far as training goes you will hear lots of conflicting things and some people have strong beliefs that they know best.

I admit some methods are better than others and you don’t want to waste your time but doing anything is better than nothing. Just get started the sooner the better. You can tweak your workouts as you go.

There is lots of info in these forms about workout routines. I would agree for someone starting out and looking to get fit and loose fat full body is the way to go. Do some research and then ask some more questions.

I guess the simple question I have right now is how many sets and how many reps are good to start? Should 1 set of 8 reps (to fatigue) be the goal? Or 2-3 sets of 10-12 (to fatigue) be the milepost?

Do atleast 3 sets. reps of ten is the old standard and will work good for a beginer. by the tenth rep it should be getting hard. Make sure to increase weight as needed.

its no bible but its a start. You will adapt as time goes on

as above your gonna need to cut out the junk food all them silly fats ect.
try cut down on the beer if your drink heavily(dont completely stop)

try to do atleast 3 sets do anythink in between 8-12 reps

your last rep wether its 8 9 10 11 or 12 it should be hard
if you can rep the weight for more then 12 you need to up the weight

but for now focus more on your eating try to cut down on the carbs a little
and start doing some cardio i would suggest a jog/run i prefer running it seems to get the old heart rate going alot more and enters the fat burning zone quiker.

im no pro but i mostly know what im talking about.

if you can try do abit of swiming aswlel thats brilliant for over all cutting and fat loss

hope this helped at all

good luck remember NEVER GIVE UP!! dont waste your time on any of these stupid supplements that say "Fat Loss" get lean muscle quik!
its all aload of SH** mate
