Take supplements before bed or before a workout?

Post by geoalehay »

Supplements such as glutamine and creatine either help to provide energy for your workout, or help muscles to recover afterwards.

question is: Training to become faster and/or stronger, which type is best? A muscle recovering supplement (eg. glutamine) or an energy boosting supplement before a workout?

Yes you need more energy for a workout but you also need supplements to help muscles recover and assist the rebuilding process, and taking both types is not a good idea - as far as I know.

Opinions??

Glutamine.

Creatine is not much cop if you're lacking size, as bigger dudes benefit more off it.

Plus a lot of energy supplements are just things like drinks, often whacked with Caffeine, or Guarana, (Caffeine carrying herb), which I think is pointless, or have loads of unnecessary ingredients like 2 or 3 Amino acids, and fancy names, like Relentless and Catapult.

Though the companieos will have some smart alec answer for every one. Even when some drinks like Catapult have Citric Acid in it, yes the stuff in Lemons.

Frankly if you wanted some Carbs, C A and Caffeine, you could always dip half a zested Lemon in coffee powder, then eat it. Same kind of thing, slightly slower digestion rate. Taste wise, err pass .

I would never have dinner parties. They're a bit poncy for me. What I would probably do if I could be arsed, would be 2-3 people, in front of a TV, eating and laughing at a home video show

If you’re going to use a supplement make sure to have a protein shake post workout. Some guys drink one before but I think after is better. You can find ones with glutamine in them if you’re interested in that or you can buy some glutamine and add it to your post shake.

I normally add glutamine and creatine into shake post. Make sure to mix with water for faster better absorption and take within 20 min of a workout for the best bang for your buck. If you’re thinking about creatine its best to keep your muscle saturated with it so you need to drink it on non workout days as well.

I think a protein shake should be a staple supplement used post workout. Why waste a good workout by not feeding your muscles properly? If you think you can do it through diet alone then all the power to you.

who said you cant use both? thats stupid
