Need help with workout routine.

Post by XCrunner »

So Basically I'm looking to get a six pack and have a very toned and defined body all around. Being a serious runner I'm not looking to bulk up much but I would like to have a bit more upper body muscle.I strive to workout 5 times a week but sometimes fall short. workout is specifically for the sake of building and toning muscle as I get cardio through the sports I do. workout also is simple exercises as I don't have access to weights or a gym over the summer when schools out.

Workout: 40 push-ups, 200 crunches, 35 push-ups, 200 crunches, 30 push-ups, 75 half body crunches, 25 push-ups.

This workout takes me 30-45 minutes depending on energy levels. What are your thoughts on this workout? Through research it seems this workout is more than enough for goals but I find myself hitting a wall. I have an idea that it may be diet as it is not very healthy. I try to eat healthy and small frequent meals but it can be quite hard at times. Very recently I started eating meat again after 2 1/2 years so I'm hoping a higher protein intake will help me meet goal.

Any thoughts? Thanks for any help I really appreciate it.

without weights training is going to be hard and you probably will see more "plateaus" however check out http://www.elitefts.com/documents/body_barbell.htm

Thanks Clem, I'll try to fit some of the exercises in that article into workout. One thing I really need help with is how many times should I workout a week? Researching this has gotten me mixed answer and I'm just not sure which one is the right one.

it depends on the program but doing a full body, you would want to do three days with a day in between rest. you can do additional cardio days but thats your preference
