Hang in there Lu! Sometimes with the pressures of our personal life, family, finances, etc. it all can seem too much and really weigh us down. Just keep at it, take that time for yourself everyday...a good workout is therapy for the mind, body and spirit. :D Have a good day!

You guys are the greatest! Thank you! The next few months in life will be difficult - Mom entered Hospice (at home fortunately) yesterday :(:( As you know I wake early to workout and I really need it these days even if sometimes it's hard to get motivated! And I need you too! Thanks for being there for me!
Spending lots of quality time after that with Mom - as difficult as the news is, we've had some good laughs and have been able to enjoy our time together so far. brother will be arriving from Florida next week which Mom is really looking forward to. Me too ! I'm normally the rock of the family - he is rock :)

I'm glad you will have your brother with you, and that your mom will have the both of you to spend time with, I know she will cherish that. I'm sure I speak for many here on ShapeFit when I say that we are here for you and will be thinking of you and if you need to talk or vent or whatever, we will listen, and support you and help you through this time.
Take care of yourself! :)

Thank you all!

I did go to the gym this morning and had a pretty good workout. I love going so early, it interferes with nothing (sleep I guess :) )and leaves the rest of the day open to do everything else.

This is what I did:

First 50 Jumping Jacks to get the blood and muscles warmed up, then some leg raises, hip thrusts and oblique crunches.

Incline Bench Press 40 lb BB - 4 x 8 Paired with
Lat Pull downs 65 lbs. 4 x 8 and
Low Rows 60 lbs. 4 x 8

Single Arm Rows 40 lbs 3 x 8 x 2

Squat/Shoulder Press Combo 3 x 8 15lb DB's
Dead Lift, Bent Over Row Combo - 3 x 8 15 lb DB's

I really need to figure out what they call it when you take DB's and hold them out and up and make the move as if you ar pouring milk??? I knew what they were once?!?! Anyway, I did a bunch of those, or attempted to anyway. Tried with 12.5lb DB's and then reduced to 10 lb DB's - very difficlt for me, but I sure see the muscles on arms explode - weird.

Off to Mom's - have a great weekend!

Went to the gym yesterday for the first time in it seems like forever :( Had a good workout - 4 sets each of squats (100 lb BB) Single arm Rows (40 lb DB's)- Incline Bench Press (40 lb BB)paired with Lat Pull Downs (60 lb) 8 reps each but only 5 for squats and Rows.

Today took power walk-no sprints as I'm still not back to 100 percent plus all the time I took off.

I gained a few pounds-hopefully temporary. Last Friday was last day of work so I'm officially retired!! it feels really great!

Congrats Lu!!!

Now you can have a vacation anytime you like :D
I still have many more years before I can retire! :P

And don't worry about the little pounds... have it easy for a bit!
Once you get yourself on track all those little pounds will be gone and even more!

Where do you start when everything has changed? I don't want to bring negative vibes to this site but I don't want to appear unfeeling either. I lost Mom last week - when she was diagnosed with lung cancer she stated she had a wonderful, full life and was ready to go - no regrets. I am thankful she was taken quickly (quite to surprise) as she is now in a better place and no longer suffering.

I went to the gym tonight, had to beat the old treadmill up for about 30 minutes - I really needed it and it felt good. I'm going to try to get back on track with M-W-F weights. I gained about 3 pounds - didn't eat perfect and haven't been to the gym. Mom would want me to get back on track - she was proud of the positive results I've had. :)

Lu, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know your mom must have been a wonderful and great lady to have raised a daughter as good hearted and caring as you. I know she was VERY proud of you and the progress you have made. :D
Hang in there, don't worry about the 3 pound thing, you will take care of that in no time. Just get back to doing what you do best...working out, taking care of Lu and keeping all of us in line! :D And know that you have alot of folks here that care about you and are standing behind you giving you our support and love.
Hugs,
Lynne

I agree. I'm sorry to hear of this, but certainly you should not be hard on yourself, as that will do nothing but make things worse.

Keep your chin up and best wishes. We are all here for you, and I'm sure everyone is wishing you positive times in the coming days.

You're a wonderful part of this site, and it is appreciated. Whatever Shapefit cna do, you can rely on us :).

Thank you guys - I really appreciate everyone's kind words - it means alot to me!

I'm having trouble getting back into morning routine but did get to the gym tonight. Had a better workout than I imagined, body (mostly legs) was sore from the treadmill. Not working has probably screwed up internal clock - I get up early still, just can't get going :(

Warmed up with leg raises, supine bridges, oblique crunches and jumping jacks.

Dead Lifts 3 x 5 85 lbs
Did 6 lunges with 15lb DB's in between dead sets.
Squats (Squat Rack) 3 x 5 85 lbs.
Single Arm Rows 40 lb DB's paired with Lat Pulldowns 3 x 8 65 lbs.
Combo Curls, Shoulder Press 15 lbs DB's 3 x 8

Felt good ! It was a good re-start! :)

P.S. Diet was right on track today:)
