Ditching the diet and making a change

Post by Lif »

I'm new to shapefit. I'm 20 and have found that whenever I try one of the "lose X pounds in X weeks" I either don't find the motivation to follow it through or don't see the results. Currently, I've adopted an entirely different lifestyle. I try to eat clean, maintain an active lifestyle, and just keep a positive attitude about myself. I've found I have a much more positive outlook on life as a result and am much more motivated. However, I'm still trying to find the motivation to keep working hard to gain better endurance and build more muscle. So, do any of you have tips on keeping up the motivation to push the limits? What motivates you to work out harder especially when you're busy?

Hi Lif and welcome to the site!

Having guns like yours is motivation!!! … Dang I want one! :P

Having a support system is a great motivation and keeps you on track of your goals.
Reading other people success story and their dedication to reach their goals properly!
Having a healthy looking fitness model picture next to the bathroom mirror helps!
(I like to read Cassie’s Figure Competition Journal… and a lot of people journals... It makes me feel like... Hey, I can sure do that too!!!)

I personally think you’re doing great with such a positive attitude. It will not only help you look at life differently it will definitely help you live longer and stress less! :D

Hey girl!

WELCOME to our site!! I think this site alone should be GREAT in helping to keep you motivated! There are so many wonderful people here who can help you along the way. Also, for me, being healthy and feeling fit is a great motivator! I hate how I feel when i miss a workout or eat a crappy meal. I try to remember how I feel in those times so later when I'm considering skipping a workout or eating a gallon of ice cream I can reflect back. Lastly, I'm still trying to figure out how to turn the obesity epidemic around in this country. When I go out and see all of the obese and overweight people it really wears on me because I know how much those peoples lives are affected by their weight. I've learned that I can't keep people from shoving junk food in their mouth... and I can't force them to workout regularly. However, I can be a positive role model and i can spread the word on how GREAT you feel when you follow a healthy diet and regular workout routine, and I can eat healthy and get butt to the gym everyday so others know how truly easy it is to follow a healthy lifestyle. I feel that because I do know a thing or two about health and fitness it is job to educate and motivate those who are kind of in the dark. Thats what keeps me motivated... well that I and I JUST LOVE THIS STUFF! :)

I'm glad you found our site! :)

Hello, and welcome. I found starting a workout journal to be a gr8 motivator. I saw other people daily posting what they did, and I was like hey I want own. Now I have one and I love to fill it out, I look for things I have done to put in it. Also, join in the conversations, become part of the community, check in regularly, it keeps ur mind on fitness and good health. Just a few ideas. Have a gr8 day!

aunt keeps me motivated. She's very short and very round and I don't want to end up like her!

I noticed about a year ago that I was getting arms like hers and it terrified me enough to do something about it.

Not the best type of motivation but motivation none the less.

Welcome to the site. This is a great place where you can find out answers to questions, advice, support and information about nutrition and exercise. The people here are great and will keep you motivated.
I joined this site for the pure reason to keep track of the calories I burn during a workout, but I had no idea how much more this site offers. Take advantage of it.

Also, I have never had anyone go to the gym with me on a regular basis. I joined a gym and made mom join it with me to help her with her back pains and her never ending complaints about physical pains which I was 110% sure were due to lack of exercise. I was right, she is pain free and goes with me most of the time. 17 year old brother also joined the gym and always wants to go (teenagers and their desire for muscles is funny). He uses his energy in a positive way and keeps out of trouble. :D He is a great gym buddy.

I really don't have any goals I want to obtain because I will only be dissapointed if I don't reach them. I only remind myself everyday of that great feeling I have after each hard workout. That feeling is motivation.
