Trying to take off the last 20 pounds! Need advice!!
Over the last year and a bit I have lost 115 pounds. I am currently 5'8" and 165 pounds which is the high end of weight range. goal is to get down to 145 and then put on about 10 pounds of muscle so that I am nice and lean. problem is that I am plateauing and have not lost any weight for about 3 weeks. I am currently going to an hour long bootcamp class 3 times a week and I also do 40 minutes of cardio before the class. On the days I don't have class I do 40 minutes of cardio. I feel like I am wearing myself out for nothing...even though I am noticing that I am more toned and I feel really strong right now. As far as eating goes I keep things pretty simple. I have protein with every meal and I eat 5 small meals a day...I also try not to eat the same things every day. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to beat this and get weight loss back on track! Thanks I really appreciate it...the frustration is really bringing me down!!

What are you eating? What are you doing for cardio? And what are you doing in your bootcamp? Do you work out every day???
Congratulations on losing 115 pounds!!! I've actually hit a plateau for the past couple weeks myself. Don't let it get you down. It happens. You just have to keep your head up and find ways to get back to making progress. You're doing great.

Usually for breakfast I have cereal with protein whether it be a shake, eggs, or yogurt. I eat three hours later an hour before bootcamp I eat a piece of toast with natural peanut butter and a 18 oz of water. Lunch is usually a salad with chicken and nuts. Dinner is usually some high protein meat, rice or potatoes, veggies or salad. Then I usually have a snack like a pear or half of an apple with peanut butter. I drink a lot of water all day long.
workouts are Bootcamp MWF..we do circuit training for an hour. A lot of plyometrics and weights combined with cardio. I also run on the elliptical for 30 min before hand. Then Tuesdays and Thursdays I do 40 minutes of intervals on the elliptical. Saturday and Sunday are days off but, I usually end up doing yoga or just running around with the kids outside.

There are a couple different things you can do to overcome the plateau. Personally, I like changing up cardio and diet a bit. So, that would be changing the resistance on the elliptical, working out for a bit longer, or just increasing your own intensity. For your diet, some people suggest cutting out carbs later in the day or even trying a different caloric intake for a period of time just to shock your metabolism (try increasing calories by a few hundred). Your body tends to adapt to what it's been doing for a period of time in order to maintain its equilibrium. In order to overcome that, the best thing to do is try something new and change things up. You can also make a workout journal and record your workouts, how you feel and what you are doing, and everything you eat in a day. It can give you a better look into what's going on every day and see what may need to be changed. It also helps to show you what's working and what isn't.
