Thanks Cassie. After reading everyone's kind words and advice and ideas I am feeling much better. Everything will work out. Yes, I think making a salad (thanks for the dressing recipe - I SO need one!) and buy a veggie tray to nosh on. We will be near the beach, so I am hoping for a beach run or two :D
Take care everyone, have a happy turkey day! :D

If I let the scale inch upwards a tad I always attribute it to a muscle gain and feel so much better after a flex or two that will reassure myself its trueeeeeeeeeeee.

I'm eating thanksgiving dinner just not a glutons portions of thanksgiving dinners..............

happy thanksgiving friends! (and happy Thursday to anybody not celebrating our turkey/football/shopping holiday)

Keep in mind though that, as amazing as the human body is, it is very very hard for the body to put on more than .25-.5 lbs of muscle per week (without roids). Sooo yes, mentally I'm sure telling yourself that its muscle would help you not fret too much. However, this could also set you back if your diet or workouts were slipping (or your body was just in need of a change) and instead of addressed the issue you passed it off as gained muscle. Honestly usually large flucuations in the scale are the result of water. weight can go up or down by up by as much as 5 lbs as a result of decreased water and increased sodium intake. Its quite amazing really, however considering that your body is over 60% water it does make sense.

Yeah science has a lot to answer for :P.

There's probably some people who wish they could go back to the days before science, when people were mostly sedentary, ate raw meat, sat in their own filth and didn't have to worry about anything, except whether they might get trampled by a herd of approaching Mammoths.

Still on the other hand there's Shapefit, so Hooray for science .

Back home! Well, I won't bother with posting food...but suffice to say that I handled it pretty well. On thanksgiving dinner I ate alot of turkey breast and ham slices, went easy on the casseroles, and skipped the dessert table entirely, so that wasn't too bad.
I managed to get in some good cardio workouts on Thursday and Friday. We went down to the beach and on Thursday I did 5 all out sprints, each about 40 yrds, then ran easy along the beach shoreline. It was beautiful weather. Then on Friday we played Frisbee (lots of running and jumping) then I did a 2 mile run on the beach. upper thighs and stomach muscles are sore! I guess from the sprints and from jumping and reaching for the frisbee.
Glad to be home, and ready to dig in and work hard for December, I want to be under 160 hopefully before the end of the year. :D
Hope everyone is well! :D

Welcome home :) We have our thanksgiving alot earlier than u guys, though is no family here anyway, so I can avoid the dinner thing. It is so true though, I was reading one of the shapefit success stories where she intimated that we are not the same as the rest of the worlds population, who wake each day, consume whatever they want to eat, do whatever they want ..etc.Sometimes I feel like an alien, though im a fit & healthy alien, so Ill stick with the smaller portion of the worlds inhabitants :) Most of those r on shapefit, lol...dont know any other fit people. Glad u survived your family dinner, with such grace :)

Yes, Bonnie I know how u feel. Finding Shapefit was such a blessing for me....finally having a way to converse and associate with people who understand why I am the way I am - because they are too, and who support and encourage efforts towards a healthier me.

Yes!! I am always astounded and proud (to be a part of) the quick, compassionate, concerned and geniune felt responses I read everyday to people who come here (just like me, not too long ago) reaching out, asking questions, sharing at times some pretty painful and personal struggles they face. Usually within an hour of a new post, several Shapefitters have not only welcomed them, but offered sound, heartfelt, sometimes stern, but always helpful advice. We celebrate each other's triumphs, encourage & inspire those who feel they have failed, or are struggling, and applaud a well earned and hard fought goal when reached. That is what unites us, and I'm just blessed to be a small part of it. :D

Thank you Brent...you are right of course, no 'want" - only "WILL"!!

Congratulations Lynne! Sounds like you did admirably! I wish I did as well (couldn't pass on the dessert, but I knew it going in) but here we are, back to normal - fortunatley our "norm" is healthy and fit!

See you around the "office" water cooler! :)

Thanks Lu. The only reason I was able to pass on the dessert table was because they didn't have any chocolate desserts! If there had been chocolate cake or brownies I would have dove in face first probably!!!! hahahaha

Thanks Nokie. Yes, it is back to work now. I spent at least 45 minutes longer at the grocery store reading the backs of items at the ingredients, trying really hard to make smarter choices, less processed, more natural as possible. I printed out several recipes from fellow shapefitters and bought the stuff the make them. Can't wait to try them out!

Todays meals so far:

fruit smoothie, w/1/2 scoop protein powder
Breakfast: oatmeal w/ 1 tbsp. Flax seed, 1/2 scoop protein powder, 1 packet truvia, salt. --- YUMMY!
(did a little better on the protein part, yes?)
snack: handful trail mix (peanuts, raisins, M&M's, almonds)
Lunch: 6" honey oat subway sandwich w/grilled chicken & deli ham, 1 slice american cheese, toppings: spinach, red onion, cucumber, tomatos. approx. 2 tbsps. lite mayo. (I know I shouldn't have the mayo, lite or otherwise, so will work on that)
snack: carrots, celery w/natural PB
Dinner: baked tilapia or chicken w/zucchini & squash, salad w/ Cassies' recipe for dressing (halved):
1 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 cup grated Fresh Parmesan Cheese
2 tablespoons White Wine Vinegar
1/2 cup low-fat Plain Yogurt
1 teaspoon Dried Herbs such as Oregano, Basil, Thyme or a blend
1 tablespoon. Dijon Mustard
Salt and Fresh Ground Pepper, to taste

Todays workout:

50 jumping jacks
10 Stability Ball Jackknife/pushup combos
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjWvoa90 ... ature=fvwp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
2x8 SB pushups (hands on ball) - hurts wrists, may not do this one again

3x8 Seated Rows - 86 lbs.
3x10 SB pushups (feet on ball)

3x8 Seated Upright bench press - 61 lbs.
3x8 Lat pulldowns - 70 lbs.
3x8 Facepulls - 70 lbs.

3x10 stability ball butt lifts (keeping knees bent)
3x25 bicycle crunches
2x8 Stability Ball hamstring curls - hamstrings are screaming!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czf-1snz ... re=related" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
this guy is really good, great demonstrations, form & technique
hammy's are wondering what hit them!
