So for those of us who are making an effort at changing our diets realize that all the crap we used to eat can no longer be consumed. So with fewer (I mean a lot) ingredients we have to be a bit more inventive with our cooking/snacking. Would you like to share a recipe you invented and turned out to be great?
recipes (ALL INGREDIENTS SHOULD BE MODERATE IN PORTION)
Snack: light yogurt, unsalted peanuts, flax seed powder. Mix well and eat alone or with crackers (salty crackers like Ritz crackers give a sweet and salty pretzel like taste).
Snack: sliced banana, almond butter. Microwave for one minute and enjoy with crackers.
Tomatoe soup, add spinach and cheese (I am pretty sure that this is already a recipe but it's so simple and yummy, I had to mention it.)
Original recipes, share one with us.

I like to eat alone so I don't have to share FOOD! I hate sharing food. I must have missed that lesson back in elementary school because I realllly don't like to share.

Ok.. but I will share this because I think everybody should be able to experience the joy of oatmeal and eggwhites!
breakfast of choice:
1/2 cup oatmeal (old fashioned)
5 whites plus one whole egg
1/4 cup blue berries
1 tbs peanut butter
cinnamon
Cook oatmeal in water til done. Add eggwhites and eggs. Stir well. Add blueberries, peanut butter, and cinnamon. Cook til done (stir about half way through). Makes one serving of the best tasting oatmeal in the whole world (ok that might be an exageration but its pretty freaking good... imo).

hahaha Oscar, good one!!!
Cassie, well I'm glad you share your knowledge. Btw, I would have never thought of that recipe, sounds very interesting. I will have to try that sometime soon because I have a feeling that eggwhite omelettes are going to get old soon.

When you do try it let me know what you think. This meal saved me when I was training for show and had a sweet tooth. You can also add a pinch of salt and stevia to give it a little more flavor. Just make sure you stir it REALLY well or you'll end up with chunk of eggwhite in your oatmeal.arely26 wrote:hahaha Oscar, good one!!!

ok so few favorites:
Tuna spread - i can eat it over and over again
tuna flakes
diced: onion, green pepper, pickle,
low fat greek yogurt
lots of black pepper
it tastes great on wholemeal crackers
sweet snack:
diced apple, natural yogurt or cottage cheese, a few raisins, chopped up dried apricot, teaspoon of honey or agava syrup and lots of cinnamon mmm
egg white omlette
1 egg, 2 egg whites, tablespoon of low fat milk, a couple of tablespoons of green peas, slice of chopped up ham, diced onion, and a tablespoon of low fat cheese (i like mature cheddar)chives and black pepper
beat the eggs, mix in peas, onion and ham and fry on moderate heat (without any fat preferably) , when the top of the eggs is nearly done add grated cheese and chives and fild in half. fry another 2-3 mins and enjoy
sorry for writing in a chaotic way - i can't help it
