Fish Oil Pills

Post by Seminole »

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering what people thought about taking these? I have been taking 4 a day and was disappointed in that latest cholesterol readings went up by about 20 points to 210. I have been off pills since July and want to stay off them and thought these would help. I noticed these have 25 grams of cholesterol in each dose of 2 pills and was wondering if this was causing the rise in readings. I really eat very clean 95% of the time so not sure what else I can do I excersise 6 days a week as well with weights and Cardio

You have other options of course.

1. Try a different kind, that might have less Cholesterol.

2. Try something like supplemental Beta-glucan, if you don't want to have more Whole-grain.

3. Try Evening Primrose Oil.

4. Co Q-10

5. Try Krill Oil.

6. If you eat Eggs, simply switch to Omega 3 Eggs.

All these things don't require a major change to your diet or supplemental regime, so they should be workable. I wouldn't do them all though, just choose which ones look best for you if you do and maybe do a little self education first to make sure you feel 100% comfotable about any choice you make.

Thanks Boss Man I will do some investigative work on your suggestions.

Excellent on Triglycerides. LDL only really needs to drop 15 minimum, so that's good.

Thanks but again kind of disappointed with the over all results since I have been really good and working out like crazy as well but maybe the holiday food was still in the system and may have contributed to the results as well.

I use to have triglycrtides over 200 at 1 point not to long ago. HDL was always in the high 40's to low 50's can't remember old LDL readings but I am sure they were pretty ugly as well.

Since May 1st I am down 43 LBS and have become a gym rat again I love it.

Thanks and I have been for the most part but I think I was slacking a little on eating and also coming out of the holidays I am sure didn't help and plus I think I need to drop the egg yolks as I was eating on avg 1 1/2 a day so I think I will stick with whites and see what happens.

HDL being in the high 40's to low 50's wasn't ideal, as less than 40mg's is definitely a no-no, but your current reading of 80+, is much better. Yes it could be a bad thing if it contributed to a Total Cholesterol reading fo 200+, but in this case LDL is the one and it's not too high over the 100mg max.

Thanks again I am really going to be careful the next 5 weeks before I go back to the Dr and have the blood work done again. Like I said above I am going to toss 12 yolks a week that I had been eating and see if that helps along with watching everything else I eat which like I said is 95% good

Well that is what I thought but I have to figure out what is causing the rise and figured I would start there. diet has been pretty stable the last 9 months and why the cholesterol is rising is something I don't understand. I am also going to stop the fish oil pills as well. I go back in 4 weeks to get checked again and will see if these 2 changes make a difference
