Can ab exercises be done every day?
I am new to working out so i really don't know much about anything. I started doing 5 day workout plan, and I was told that I have to rest muscles for at least 48 hours before targeting the same the muscle again so that's what I am doing alternating between different muscles. But the other day I was talking to a friend and he told me that is not the same for abdominal muscles, that i can do abdominal exercises 5 days in a row. Is he right or do abdominal muscles require the same rest as all other muscles?

Are you saying ABB excersise is a waste of time???Lesplease wrote:You can but it doesn't do you much good. Abs are about diet.

Not a waste of time at all. If they are coverd in fat all the ab work in the world is not going to make them come out. if you want abs you need to have verry little

Got itLesplease wrote:core should get worked during a major lift. no need to isolate them. but then I feel like this about every muscle group. Isolations make me sad.
I'm not saying they are a waste of time, i'm just saying that doing them everyday won't benefit much more than doing them every other day. And doing abs every day and legs chest back arms shoulders one day a week each seems slightly unbalanced.

Why would this be any different for your abs?I have to rest muscles for at least 48 hours before targeting the same the muscle again so that's what I am doing alternating between different muscles.

the abs are just like every other muscle, work them out everyday, you will risk injury, and fatigue, and you will over train them and wont produce
depending on the work outs, you need 48-72 hours between the work outs for that muscle group
Do your abs twice a week, Monday and friday
use a resistance not just situps,
and its been said, you want them to show, reduce the .

Re: Can ab exercises be done every day?
I've done a lot of researching and work on abs. I do pilates every day for abs (10 minutes of intense training). However, before you can see definition in your abs, you must do a lot of cardio. The research says that for women, you must lower your body at percentage to about 15% before seeing definition in the abs. For women, body fat tends to accumulate in the stomach, so once you lower your body fat, you see the actual muscles in the abs. Otherwise, fat covers any muscles you build in that area. For more information and to calculate your body fat percentage, you can go to http://www.freedieting.com/tools/body_f ... ulator.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
good luck!

Yes, abs can be done everyday, it is the FASTEST recovering muscle group on your body... No need to rest for more than 24 hours unless you want to.
DIET is the most important thing when trying to get definition in your midsection and if you think about it, your "core" (abs) are used each and every day whether you're getting out of bed, carrying groceries etc.
When I played baseball our trainer had us do abs everyday and it helped tremendously and we saw results. A strong core is one of the most important things you can have, ask any athlete...
