Re: Patty's Workout Journal
Lu you are SO going to have to change the date you go to Aruba in the fall so we can meet in Middletown this fall. I'll probably be fighting those same girls and a couple more! I feel like training for it now to get ready.
I hiked with the kids and husband yesturday (husband is great with this now) legs got tired so quickly. Then last night I went to fight class and sparred, came home and crashed into bed before 9PM. I was so tired, not beat up, just plain tired. I have to take the week off and let body recover. SO hard to do when thing don't hurt.
A friend of mine called the newspaper and they told her they want to interview me. I kind of don't want to but if I go to the world's tournament I have to think about sponcership.

Do it. Why not? You might make a bit of money for the interview.

Re: Patty's Workout Journal
A friend of mine, who is a pro photographer was at the tournament. She is the one with that great shot. Anyways, she gave me the disc with all pictures. Things that I did to one girl, in the pictures, I remember doing to the other. For example, I remember punching the first girl off the mat, but in reality it was the second girl. I remember throwing one kick to the head of the first girl, but it looks like I have 4 or 5 different kicks in the pictures to the head. I can't remember the first girl throwing any kicks, but there is a picture of me blocking a kick. A bunch of other things too. Like I remember pants were falling down in the overtime round of the first match, yeah I know, can't take me anywhere, but it seemed like they were that way for almost the entire round. Basically I remember the fight the way I wrote it up before, but it might not have happened that way, now that I have seen pictures.
Is it normal, to forget things and mix up memories like that when fighting? Do you all remember things wrong from running a race or during a game?
Also, now that I have seen pictures, i don't want to watch the video. I am so self criticle. Maybe I should just keep false, happy memories LOL.

Are you kidding me???? These pictures are GREAT!!! You look great!!PandorasVise wrote:Also, now that I have seen pictures, i don't want to watch the video. I am so self criticle. Maybe I should just keep false, happy memories LOL.
I can imagine your memory might be a bit confused merging both fights together - after all your mind was totally focused on what you were doing - which is one of the reasons you WON~! Once again, GREAT Job Patty!

Yeah LOL I picked the best pictures. I don't even remember that picture. She took over 1200 picturres at the fights, and more than half of them are me!! Thanks Luldematto wrote:Are you kidding me???? Re: Patty's Workout Journal
Wow, again I am blown away at your fight performance. I can see the fierce intensity on your face - the total focus. I don't see fear or doubt, but someone who is totally in the moment using all her senses, muscles, every thing working together to "take out" her opponent.
I'm with Lu here. ARE YOU KIDDING! Girl, look at you! Is that a crescent kick you are doing? Whatever it is, it is completely knocking her head off. Own it girl, you earned it - you are a fighter, a champion.PandorasVise wrote:i don't want to watch the video. I am so self criticle. Maybe I should just keep false, happy memories LOL.

Re: Patty's Workout Journal
Last night I went to kickboxing class (exersice class at dojo) and after, Sensei Kris and I are chatting in the waiting room.
She starts talking about the World's Tournament with me. I really am going to the world's tourament. I am really going to compete against women who have been training for years. I have been saying 'if i go' to myself, but I really am going. How weird is that? It is very surreal. Hungary in the fall of 2011 is when sensei said the next world's should be. She said that they were every four years, but they told her when she was there, that they would be back in Hungary in 2.
She told me that I could go to the all japan's tournament, but she recommends that I fight in the states and Canada for now. I got to get a passport.
It almost feels like a TV show, like this really isn't life. Things like this don't happen to housewives.
I asked her about the weigh brackets and the upper range for middle weight is 155. weight has been an issue for so long. I don't want to be a heavy weight anything anymore. I tell her I have revamped diet and I am losing again (down 10 pounds after a bounce back up to 177) She tell me she doesn't want me to lose any more than 5 pounds. Wants me to stay within 160-165 pound range. goal has been 140-145. Before karate, I wanted to be slim and pretty. Now I still want to look good, but I have to think about power and quickness. I feel like I am still too heavy. She said that with body frame, i don't need to lose weight.
Do you know how strange it is that someone, totally into fitness, just told me that I am thin enough?? Still with all her knowledge, I am not sure how I feel about staying heavyweight. It may be psychological. Never in adult life have I been 'not' trying to lose weight. I was fat as a kid, fatter as an adult. I have lots of overweight people in family that I picked up the bad eating habits from. I do have a year and a half. I could drop to 150 and see how fit I am. I did a body fat analysis on the internet, where you measure wrists and calves and all over. It said that I was at 25% body fat.

Re: Patty's Workout Journal
It's your body, not hers.
Perhaps consider going lower, if you can develop a better power to weight ratio, by adding more power and build.
It will be tricky to get that power, speed, and weight combination, but you should be able to do it.
160 lbs would be a good weight, for a guy, but you'd still be a little on the chunky side fat wise, so I see no reason not to go lower if you want. You could go lower than 160, If you could get the power to weight ratio, coupled with speed.
If you look at some thai fighters, they're like 400m runners, but again that's dependant on size to some extent like it is in boxing.
This would be your choice, but you must progress in the way that feels comfortable for you. Someone can guide you, but it doesn't mean they're right all the time. All the best coaches sometimes pick the wrong tactics, people, gameplan, strategy etc etc.
Good luck whatever happens and don't be afraid of your own ability. You proved there's more to you than you realised. All you need to do is realise more of what you discovered and tapped into
.
You're capable yeah, so just keep believing.

Re: Patty's Workout Journal
fight video is in but copy isn't there yet
I got to watch the fight though and I must say that the fight i watch is not the one I remember. It shows clearly where I hit the first woman in the face, but I really didn't do it hard. I realized what I was doing and started to pull back so I just touched her face. It looks like I clocked her though.
But I didn't realize how aggressive I was, scary aggressive. I was always the girl who got overlooked and was shy and took whatever was leftover. Karate has unleashed inner beast....awesome!

Re: Patty's Workout Journal
Only touched her face? I'm dissapointed
. Next time, at least enough blood to fill a couple of thimbles.
That way it will never look like you win, with just the required bare minimum; you look like you butchered someone properly.
Sounds a bit sadistic probably I know

Re: Patty's Workout Journal
so funny! I was just going to browse the forums, when I got an email saying you posted Lu. I am still around, just life is happening but the happening is slowing down. I was injured all summer. I ripped a calf muscle and then when it healed, first day back to training, I broke a bone in foot kicking someone...figures. Well the hubby just left two weeks ago to the middle east for the next year and I am all healed up and back to training. I will get back to regular posting soon. In the midst of all this I am starting own web design and hosting company. Learning new things everyday with that.
busy busy busy!!
busy busy busy!!
