That's cool! WTG on the school. I will definatly keep you in mind if I need programming help. I love the design part. It is like scrapbooking for the internet, but sometimes ideas are bigger than brain.

I have done a few sites for money, and some for trade. I got tattoo as a trade, also use it for portfolio. It will be a small company to start, focusing on small business and internet and social marketing. I have an appointment this week to transfer a local computer repair shop's web site to mine and his wife's. I reselling hostgator webserver space. That website will be launched this week. I am very excited.

I applied for a grant from the local small business admin and am receiving a 4 to 1 match for funds that I invest into business after a year. I have a cap of 1000 as contribution, so I will wind up with 5000 next year this time. I am suppose to launch the web design biz on the 27th, so I have a deadline, but I think the hosting will come first because I am closer to completing the web site

Last night I got the chance to teach the cardio kickboxing class at the dojo. It was first time teaching, and I think i did well. I had been asked the night before if I would do it, and I jumped at the chance. Sensei Kris is the usual teacher and she was there, in case I needed help.

This is what I did for the class and any input is welcome because I am doing it again next week:

All rounds are timed for 2 minutes with a round timer. A warning bell goes off when there is 30 seconds left. There is a 30 second break between rounds.

3 rounds warm up :

1st round is a go easy round just warm up.
2nd round, to go a bit harder.
3rd round is to give all you got.

Warm up rounds were a mix of the following:

* jog in place
* mountain climbers
* jumping jacks
* butt kickers
* high knees

After a rest round it was time for bag work. I had the following stations in a circuit:

* jump rope
* speed bag
* heavy bag: combo of jag, cross, switch foot, knee
* heavy bag: combo of jab, cross, hook, hook
* water bag: timing your punches with your feet (helps work your brain while working your body)
* freestanding heavy bag: double kick, low round house, high round house same leg, switch
* freestanding heavy bag: front snap kick, alternating lead and back legs, switching stances
* agility ladder ins and outs

Sensei said that Shihan insists that we do abs, squats and push-ups in some form so for the next thee rounds:

* Ski Abs and at the 30 sec warning, in and outs
* girly push-ups (knuckle push-up position on your knees, bring yourself down almost touching the floor and pulse up only a few inches. Do not go all the way up. Goal; 200 in 2 minutes)
* wide leg squats

Rest round and then I really put the cardio into cardio kickboxing.

We did tabata intervals with the standing heavy bag, punching like crazy. No technique, just punching. I wish I could have done them too but I had to time the rounds and "encourage" them to work harder.

I got some video of the ski abs, agility ladder and tabatas on blog at http://www.kihonwasa.com/2010/10/teachi ... abata.html at the bottom. I think in the next week or two I will be making own videos.

All I can say is "WOW"~!!!!!! That is some workout!! No wonder you lost all that weight! Guess I know why I'm NOT losing ;) I might be trying that SkiAb stuff - looks better than crunches, which I have been doing - oops, forgot to include that in post.

Thanks Patty~! You are doing great!!

I think that looks okay. I haven't ever trained completely like that when doing circuits, so I can't give a fully educated observation, but from what I was familiar with and assessing the rest, I doubt you did anything wrong. You've covered all the bases pretty much and provided variety and increased intensity as things progress, so i'd say you've done a good job :).

Hey Lu, it is a rough workout but all these people are hard core athletes and there are a lot of exercises because I have a short attention span. I have to come up with a workout with less intensity because I want to start a morning class and it will have more 'civilians' in it. But that is far away. What I like about kickboxing, is that we are all doing different exercises and then we rotate. So there is no choreography to try to keep step with. I don't have to feel like I am falling behind or tripping over feet. I recently went to the Y and tried their "groove" class, I literally stepped on own foot more than once. One time I almost went down too. Halfway through the class, I politely told the instructor, between songs, that I had only time to do half the workout and thank you very much. What is a Sass-shay anyway?

I do have to come up with own music list before Thursday. I'll probably get a brain cramp over thinking the whole thing. I also have to do a new ab thing. One of the guys, who isn't karate, has shoulder trouble and said it bothered him. I am thinking hand-ball switch.
Lie on your back, with your legs extended on floor. Hold the ball with both hands, and extend arms back over your head. Raise arms and legs toward each other, lifting your head and shoulders as you do. When your hands and feet are directly up, transfer the ball to your feet, then lower your arms and legs back to the floor. Repeat, this time switching the ball from your feet to your hands at the up position.
Some semi good news. I have been asked to fight at the Kanreikai world karate championship on the 23rd. I have until the 14th to make up mind. cardio is horrible right now because of all the time off from injuries. I get to sparring after training and I have a hard time getting through 2 rounds. This fight, if it goes into over time will be 6 minutes long and I may have more than one fight. As of today, I am not in fighting shape, but I have 3 weeks to get there. I have been lacking on the strength training because I am working on cardio, but I will have to incorporate it more because, I would rather knock the chick out and not fight for 6 minutes.

Thanks Bossman, from you that means a lot.
That looks similar to what we do in our bootcamp classes, though without the bags. Nice workout! Looks like fun! :)
Come up north and try it out Allison! Nothing is better in the whole world than hitting stuff that doesn't hit back

good news good news!!! I am DEFINATLY fighting at the kanreikei world championship on the 23rd. passport came in yesturday. I was fighting with myself on weather or not to go becasue of the injuries that I have had. So I flipped a coin. Heads I fight, tails, I go and help coach. While still in the air I was cheering for it to land heads. Before I looked I decided it really didn't matter what the coin said because I wanted it so badly. In a few weeks, I have a chance to be world champion. Not likely but I do have chance. 8)

Thanks Bossman!

The last fight I had, I had anough time to work up nerves really good. Then, just yesturday I was thinking about how I was not dwelling on the fights. Thought it was odd. Than I went on a hike with Sensei, who is also fighting, but in the middleweight division. She started to tell me about the polish team and the Bulgarian team. She remarked on how visious the canadian women are.

Now I can't sleep. I was okay, but noooooo, she HAD to prepare me for what was coming.

I did wake up the other night swinging a hook punch that took all blankets off. If I can fight half as well as I do when I am sleeping, I will do just fine :D

Forget what the opposition do. Prior knwoledge of opponents is good however. As they say forwarned is forearmed, but all you can do in the situation, is turn up, stick to some sort of natural use of your style, or some kind of gameplan / tactics and take eahc fight as it comes.

If you had any access to footage of individual fighters to see if some favour certain combinations or individual moves more, that would possibly help, but if not just go with it.

You've earned the right to be there on merit Patty, so don't suddenly think oh god I'm fighting the premier league standard people, as if that automatically makes you inferior and expected to lose a lot of fights.

Repsetc must be given to any opposition, but not too much respect or fear. Give them your best and if they win on superior skills, there's no disgrace, but to give them wins because you failed to execute fairly simple moves and combinations, would be to some extent, letting yourself down.

The better individul if there are to be any, should win on merit, not because they are given less of a challenge by an opponent, not even striving to meet their best. You could then even lose to people you are better than, believing the situation is the reverse when it's not.

You are NOT a small Fish in a big pond, you're a tough Fish in a sharks paradise. Not easy prey, but able to fight with the predators.

So stop over analysing your approach ot this. You're a good fighter, with ability and you're proving yourself to be a better fighter than you may have considered. Mindgames are one thign, but you playing them on yourself, is self-sabotage and it's counterproductive.

You're better than that, so don't waste your time. They are merely flesh and blood. If you believe you are better than any of them, you won't necessarily win the whole shooting match, but you'll do a lot better than acting like an undeserving individual making up numbers.

So get your fight head back on and don't let your emotions make you a victim, because you're better than this, by a long chalk :).

Boss man I am so glad you are in corner That is an awesome saying. I figure that if I do lose they are gonna have to work hard for it. The nerves are a crazy thing, because I am not afraid of getting hurt, I am afraid of doing something stupid. Silly I know. I am not as scared as I was at the last fight. I should have been committed before the last fight becasue I was just nuts.

I practiced knees yesturday and I believe I can do them. I practiced the quick grabbing too. I may have to get used to it but I am a quick study. I am leaving in the morning and I am going in strong and looking scary.

Believe in yourself and your abilities, trust that inner strength. You are fighting at the world championships! You have earned the right to be there and to stand toe to toe with your opponent. Remember to trust your instincts, fight your fight. Give it all you have and regardless of the outcome, whether you win or not, you will have the peace of knowing that you fought your best fight.
Be strong girl! I am really excited and proud for you. You are HERO. :D :D
Go get'm Patty!!
