Hey Everyone, soooo Im starting a new job on thursday which will allow me great hours to get to gym before or after (or both). However, it IS a desk job.
I know some people find this job really bad as far as their eating goes, but Im a pretty good worker and am covering bosses alot so I get so distracted I wont be boredom eating.
problem is that I detest eating 6 meals a day- especially when Im sitting down all day. Im not yet at gym, and only going for jogs in the evening untill i join (next week hopefully) so I dont feel happy eating so much.
I have also succumbed to the 3pm cravings really badly the last month and its proving hard to budge, as well as a coffee addiction.
I want advice/opinions on how I should diet in these circumstances? Force myself to eat the 6 meals anyway? I know they can be small but if I dont feel hungry i feel like im wasting food.
I generally feel hungry after morning jog, and then nothing untill about 1pm. Then at 3pm the cravings hit. at 5pm Im raedy for dinner unless Ive gone for a walk, and then im just hungry for when i get back. Night time cravings dont happen to me
friends suggested a next week to sort out coffee addiction- I did this once last year when I found coffee consumption was terrible. It was a medical thing she has and is 2 days long. I had heaps of energy throughout the two days, and even though day one gave me a bad headache, day two was excellant and then I didnt have coffee for months.
Am I thinking irrationally to consider doing this again? Its not for weightloss its just for addiction really.
I was thinking as far as actualy eating habits/diet I should stick to breakfast- water, yoghurt, piece of toast....
morning tea- peppermint tea and some nuts/piece fruit? ......
lunch- tuna/chicken salad and juice.....afternoon tea- ????? no idea this is when cravings hit- just a repeat of morning tea??? - ..........
Dinner- Veggies and red meat.
I know this isnt too specific or even well researched, but considering ive been eating a million cappuccinos, meat pies, muffins and chips and softdrink while on the go at this old stupid job, im just tring to get some regularity in life.
I sitll have all old vegetarian recipe books.. I want to ease into though not rush.. thoughts? I know some people are quite opposed to beign vegetarian, I only have done so in the past based on feeling too full when eating it...

I wouldn't stop drinking the coffee cold turkey because this could lead to headaches and extreme tiredness. I would start by cutting back slowly so your body can adjust. As for your meals, I would suggest eating 4 small meals and space them so one of them hits right about 2pm to avoid the extreme hunger you feel that can lead to overeating junk.

Scale back caffeine to zero, but not stright away, taper off it, or you'll potentially get the headaches as was pointed out before.
One way might be to use Decaff for a couple of weeks to allow the body to get used to less, then estop altogether, or use extrmemely watery Coffee, or depnding on the doses, spread them out more, so instead of 8 have 4, or instead of 6 have 3, then cut back to 0.
As for the 6 meals a day, just do it. Small frequent meals will help. Low Fat Cheese and Nuts work well as snacks as do Peanuts, small sandwhiches, bits of Fruit, Raw Carrots, Low Fat Yoghurts. You could buy nut ones or try getting Yoghurt in a tupperware container, with stuff like Crushed oats in it and maybe a bit of Honey, Cinnamon etc.
If you don't eat Eggs for Breakfast, you could include a large Boiled agg as part of a snack, to increase Protein consumption, unless you're having stuff like Low Fat Cheese or Peanuts, in which case there's no need.
You'll get the eating sorted out, just keep believing
