I hate fruit! Help
Hi friends,
I can use ideas on trying to find a way to improve or disguise the taste of fruit. I also hate spices, cheese, and anything like oatmeal.

Try a smoothie. Fruit/berries, low fat yoghurt, skim milk, banana, or anything else you think might diguise the taste of the fruit. Run through a blender, yummy.

I'd try to help but I just can't wrap head around not liking any fruit, spices or cheese!!!
Re: I hate fruit! Help
1. Fruit Yoghurts
2. Fruit with Honey
3. Fruit Juice, carton or juiced
4. Fruit with Custard.
5. Caremelised type Fruit, where the fruit is cooked in a pan with something like Honey, so it ends up golden brown and hot.
6. Stewed Apple for puddings and with Pork.
7. Smoothies as already suggested.
8. Fruit with Cream.
9. Poached fruit. Works wiht some not all. I think mainly citrus type Fruits.
10. Home made preserves like Marmalade or Jam, Americans would say Jelly not Jam I believe.
11. Low Fat or homemade Ice Cream with Fruit.
12. Fruit with a small amount of melted Chocolate. Would probably work best with things like Banana.
Those should be adequate enough suggestions.

We have both boss!Boss Man wrote:Americans would say Jelly not Jam I believe.
jelly,is where the fruit comes in the form of fruit juice.
jam, the fruit comes in the form of fruit pulp or crushed fruit (and is less stiff than jelly as a result).
Re: I hate fruit! Help
We normally refer to Jelly, as that fruity coloured stuff that wobbles
.

Whaaaaat!! You just lost point with me Les!! Jell-O is gooooood stuff. Is it the consistency you don't like? There are far too many flavors to not like! Shall I compile of list?Lesplease wrote:We call that jello. And it is naaaasty!! Not a fan, personally!

To Kitty,
I suppose juice drinks or even V8 (vegetable/fruit drinks) might help... although they're loaded with 'extras'. If it hasn't been mentioned yet, you could add fruit to protein shakes, which truly have a strong flavor on their own.

Actually is there a rule that you must eat fruit to lose weight and/or be healthy? I believe eating fruit can actually be counter-productive because of the sugar involved. And when you ingest too much sugar, it turns into fat. Some people will say "Well, it's good sugar". Well guess what? IT'S STILL SUGAR. This doesn't help either if you drink sodas or coffee with sugar, etc. To lose weight lower your sugar intake. Afraid you might not be getting essential vitamins when you don't eat fruit? Well that's why God invented vegetables. All the vitamins you need are in there.
Hope this helps,

Well then simply control the Fruit intake
.
Actually not all jthe nutrients exist in Vegetables. Citrus Fruits are a very good source of Flavanoid precursors, Chalcones.
There aren't any Vegetables that contain Resveretrol to knowledge, or Bromelain, or Papain, as the last two are Fruit specific. Also I'm 99% sure Vegetables don't contain Lycopene.
I might be being picky, but Fruit has it's place for me if you want it and if you monitor it, but they do contain Sugar yes, but it is also a case of how much per portion, how much you could use for energy and if you cook Fruits, like grilling Tomatos for example, how much Carbohydrate lost in the process.

I have tried, in sooo many ways, to eat fruit...but to no avail! I just CANNOT do it! I LOVE vegetables, which is good, as I am vegetarian. However, fruit gives me heartburn and leaves me feeling bloated. As I work FT and am also studying for an MA, I was a little worried about energy levels, as I really was feeling pretty tired; so I started taking high quality vitamins and minerals, just to be extra sure! I feel great, have plenty of energy and actually almost crave more greens and healthier food in general (I used to always have a sandwich as a quick snack, but now I feel like carrots with a dip, olives, or some nuts. I know they all have fat, but...). I take http://www.doctorsnatural.co.uk/product ... women.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. But, I can`t imagine not having cheese - so much variety, so tasty! And there are low fat options
point is, if you don`t like something, find a way around it?

Re: I hate fruit! Help
I've been following the Slow Carb Diet developed by Tim Ferris for five weeks now, which basically cuts fruit other than Tomato and Avocado from your diet. I also get some citrus from lemons and limes, but little else. At first I was alarmed by the fact that there is so little in the way of fruits in this diet, but I can say that I feel better today than I have in years. Tim makes the point in his book that evolutionarily speaking, you can be sure that our ancestors in the colder climate areas of the world weren't eating fruit 365 days a year, and they survived just fine. I believe that so long as you're offsetting the loss of fruit with plenty of nutrient dense whole foods like vegetables and you are obtaining an adequate amount of your required vitamins and minerals, there is no set rule that you NEED to be eating fruit in order to be healthy and happy.
Good Luck!

Fruits are nature's gift to us.They are abundant source of nutrients especially vitamins and minerals.Try to take them in form of fruit icecreams, popsicles, marmalade, jams and toppings over pancakes. You can start with any one specific fruit and then move on to experiment with others.
