Plank question

Post by skully »

Hello!

I have one simple question is being in a push-up position is also considered as plank, and does it work the muslces as does the one with elbows?

I tend to find staying up in the push up position a lot easier than the traditional way of it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Yes, it is a considered a plank. The push-up plank uses the arms more, so it will test your arm strength more but uses less of core strength - which is why is may feel easier on the core. The forearm plank obviously uses less arm strength, but is more horizontal and uses the core muscles more - so to me it feels harder, and I think a better option for core strength training. Hope this helps answer your question. :D

Using the"pushup" plank can be a great way to increase the level of difficulty if you transition to a side plank. This will help to reinforce the conditioning of your core.
