Muscle Soreness
Hey everyone! I have a question that has been bugging me for the longest now. Here's situation. . . 2 days ago I worked out, the day after I rest (30+hrs), today I'm suppose to workout, but body is really sore. I was wondering, do I still workout today even though I'm sore? Or do I take another day to rest? Thanks!

Re: Muscle Soreness
Depends what you do. DOMS, (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness), is often a cause of adequate or over training, but if you train your whole body 3x a week, you'll need to train with a day of rest between workouts 1-2 and 2-3.
If you do something like a 5 day split, you'll have no problems, as the affected area(s) will be over it for next time.
You should be able to train through the soreness though and over time you should find the feelings lessen, os it isn't really a problem, unless you are overdoing it, in which case re-evaluate.
Some people get it, some don't. If it doesn't happen, that doesn't mean the individual has not worked out well, because as stated before, DOMS isn't an automatic sign you worked out well. You may have worked too much.

Re: Muscle Soreness
Just to add, usually I find you get more soreness if you're starting a new routine as your muscles are being worked in a different way to the previous 6 weeks you've done (depending on how often you switch around your routine).
Over time you will get to know your body well enough to work out when the soreness you've experienced is 'to be expected' (like at the start of a new routine or after a particularly heavy session), else like Boss Man said it could be a sign of overtraining.
As Boss Man said, sometimes you just need to work through it, you'll find after the first set that the soreness get's lessened. Just make sure you get lots of protein to aid in your recovery!

Hi Ninja (I'm also from Alabama, by the way).
I'm not sure how new you are to training or what type of routine you are doing. I usually stick to pragmatism when it comes to training while sore. If I've rested for a day or two and I'm a little sore then I might train. If I'm so sore I can hardly move and I know I'll have a crappy workout then I'll give it more rest.
Hope this helps
