cheat days good thing? or bad thing?
I really believe in cheat days for the fact that most people, like myself, need them.. i think for the most part we should firstly eat for health and we should treat ourselves here and there so we don't feel deprived..i absolutely love ice cream but i doesn't love me back and it usually shows on the scale. i think body can be carb/sugar sensitive at times and I need to closely monitor that..what are your thoughts? and tips?

Yes what you're talking about is feasible, but I'd limit to cheat meals and have one a week. It's just better then, as you're more in control and you're not potentially just undoing a decent sized proportion of weight loss, by having a whole day dedicated to just eating what the heck you like.

i totally agree i thought about this yesterday after i posted this.. what are your thoughts on the low carb diet? and high carb, low carb cycling?? i read an article in muscle and fitness hers magazine and the low carb diet was pretty much the bulk of the diet and i think sundays were the high carb diet, nothing crazy but just double the carbs to keep the body guessing.....Boss Man wrote:Yes what you're talking about is feasible, but I'd limit to cheat meals and have one a week. Carb cycling to me is a bit hit and miss.
High carb, low Carb, moderate Carb days; it works for some, but not for others, by supposedly keeping the metabolism guessing, to avoid a "groove" where the metabolism adapts and potentially stops trying to burn calories as much as it did.
I'd keep things simple. Same calories on workout days, then take 200-400 out on non-workout days. Then you're not overcomplicating things with low Carb this, eliminated starches that, points systems the other etc.
Have about 2,100-2,200 roughly on workout days, so you're 300-400 over the sedentary GDA for females, then you can recalibrate the intake for non-workout days, in the way I described.

I do one cheat meal a week. I think if I allowed myself a whole day I would undo all hard work for the week. I can't really do that with one meal. But by allowing myself one cheat meal a week, I fulfill those cravings without ruining it. I do think cheat meals should be allowed in diets, by depriving yourself too much you are likely to give in sooner or later and binge.

One cheat meal in a week is good. In fact, you will do yourself a lot of harm if you don't have one. You will never stop craving if you don't allow yourself a bit of indulgence...even just once.

Re: cheat days good thing? or bad thing?
I've heard of people not eating like that once a week and after a month of being totally strict on eating, splurged for 1-2 days, because they just needed to let their indulgences come to the fore, due to not being able to suppress them any longer.
If someone can allow themselves 0% indulgences with no comeback then fair enough, but people purposefully supressing one or more food urges, rather than giving into an urge with one meal a week, may run the risk of meltdown and should consider doing it. The point is, if the person finds such a choice totally cathartic, they won't repeat that choice on the same day or at the same time every day, because they will rid the urge from their system and be able to purge such feelings for another week.
One day of poor eating as a way to purge yourself of food urges, is asking for trouble, because suddenly you might find it leads to a few days of poor or semi-poor eating, before the penny drops and the problem is gotten a grip of.
So cheat meals are fine in themselves, but cheat days are like the proverbial banana skin, or the bucket of water above a door scenario; an accident waiting to happen
