lower back pain
i have recently stepped up running this spring/summer. doing lots of treadmill running, interval training mostly about 3 times a week. i have also completed numerous 5Ks. lately i have been experiencing recurring lower back pain that i have never had before. it began occuring after first 2 5Ks of this season beginning in may and hasn't relented yet. sometimes it is bad enough i need to apply heat. could it be from running? i have recently gotten new shoes (asics cumulus 12s) and have used them for almost a week now, but the pain persists. just not sure where it is coming from and why. anyone have some insight?
Re: lower back pain
You could try icing the area for 15 minutes 3-4 times a day.
The chances are you may have an inflamed muscle area, rather than some sort of tear or strain.
If you're eating things like Peppers, Onions, Apples, Peas, Celery, Lettuce, Parsley etc etc that contain anti-inflammatory substances like Quercetin and Luteolin, that might help, or Bromelain in Pineapple.
Though certainly Quercetin and Bromelain are supplemental as well.
I wouldn't have thought you have a Vertebrae problem, or you'd experience something more serious than is the case.
Transdermal products like Ibuprofen and Ketoprofen Gels may be a workble solution, or things like eat wraps and freeze sprays.

i don't wanna do that. i'm just starting to improve. actually, i just completed first 10K and had no issues from back. i was expecting alot worse. perhaps the shoes did help me? i will take your posture remark under advisement though. thanks.swanso5 wrote:easy, stop running

Re: lower back pain
Treadmill exercise will quickly lead to sore muscles and possibly and running can bring out lower back pain in people with imbalances. If you work at a desk then you most likely have some shortening in the hip flexors. Work on your hip mobility, a lot (that goes for everyone, actually). If your body isn’t finding sufficient range of motion in a joint, then it will look for it elsewhere (often the lower back).
Re: lower back pain
Hey, I think lower back pain may be sometimes due to sudden change in your body if you start with good mileage even in the start,I have experienced it .Second some times we run with out maintaining balance as much required for it.Have your sleep on straight bed with out mattress just for practice and exercise tool.

Re: lower back pain
I hurt lower back 3 times already, the worst one from deadlifts. I found the williams exercises for low back pain, on profile link, to be effective each time.
