6 pack help

Post by nblax8 »

I am a 17 year old 5"10 , about 150 pounds and i really started the whole six pack process a week ago. I am making sure I am eating the right foods like whole wheat, fruits, vegetables, nuts, foods that contain a good amount of carbs, proteins etc... I run everyday on the treadmill for 30-45 mins while making sure im keeping a good pace. I do about 60 crunches and other various abdomen exercises along with some pushups. How long will it take until i see some improvement in stomach?

I thought you might like this video of ab workout I put together.
Its 3 favourite ab exercises supersetted together.
3 to 5 sets of 10 to 30 reps each exercise with 1 minute rest betweeen each set and your abs will be on fire! I like to do 5 sets of 30 reps each exercise myself.

Train all your muscles mate. If you just do Abs, you might get an imbalance if your Abs get stronger but lower back remains the same. Push-ups won't do much for the lower back area, as they're mainly for things like Arms and Chest, with some mild upper back stimulation, but can be incorporated into a weights routine just fine :).

If you want to do a total body routine, which is a very common way to adjust people to weights, I'd suggest cutting some of the Cardio so you're not overdoing it.

You'd be doing mainly 2 exercises per muscle group, 2 sets of 8-10 reps per exercise.

So this kind of schedule might work for you.

Day 1. Weights

Day 2. Cardio

Day 3. Weights

Day 4. Day off

Day 5. Cardio

Day 6. Weights

Day 7. Day off.

This would be a good workable solution. So the Cardio could remain the same but add the weights in, which could include Push-ups and Abs stuff as well if you want. A Gym would be able to sort you out with a more specific weights routine, to show you what you can do and how to do it.

Boss man - I agree with you all the way that total body workouts are the key to building strength and leaning up, including starting to see the abs. There is definitely more to abs than just running on a treadmill for 30-45 minutes and doing some cruches / situps. In fact, I think you can get a better "cardio" workout with weights than you can just running at a constant speed on a treadmill. I have been following turbulence training programs for the last 8 weeks and this is exactly the principle behind them. they are built around doing supersets with minimal rest (1 min) between sets so that by the end of them your heart rate is up and you fill like you have just run a few miles. but it doesn't really stop there, after the weights it is straight to the treadmill but not for a long drawn out run. instead an "interval" run where you combine sprints and slow paced walking to really get the heart rate all the way up, then back down over a series of 20 minutes. Thats it, 20 minuts, not 45 like most people do for cadio. Many studies have proven this to be the most effective way to do cardio and it has worked very well to me. The result is a sharp decrease in body fat and packing on some lean muscle.

if you've ready posts, you know that i have started to blog about fitness pursuits. the latest one is about me finishing up one of these turbulence training programs. if you don't mind, check it out at http://distinctfitness.blogspot.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

i feel strongly about these turbulence training programs, they have have helped me to keep the weight off and to really transform body to a level that i didn't think i could get to. i know they will work for the people in this forum... men, women, people of all age groups. id suggest giving them a try or at the very least starting to follow the principles of the plan which are supersets, minimal rest and interval cardio (instead of extended cardio at the same pace).

have a great day!

Well, for getting six packs the only thing needed is hard work... get proper diet, do crunches, go regular gym.. You can't make six packs in a day or weeks, it is a long process and you should have patience to do hard work regularly for 5-6 months.

I love six packs and do work out for almost 2 hours daily, 7 days!!

You can refer how to get a six pack to get more information on this..

Enjoy six packs!!!

It's really impossible to say exactly how long it will take without knowing your body fat %. Based on your height and weight I'd say you're probably fairly lean already. Genetics do play a role here, too, as some of us carry more fat around the midsection than others and require a lower body fat % to have abs.

I also agree with Bossman's assessment--I think you'd be better off doing some weights and having a more balanced program.

Hi guys. I've been training really hard for a few months now to try and achieve 6 pack abs. I've follwed workouts and nutrition religiously. Atm i'm at that stage where i'm lean almost too skinny and if i glance into the mirror i can just see abs... I was wondering what i should focus on now more than anything to get that extra ab definition everybody has, also upper and middle abs are showing slightly but lower part has like just a centimeter of fat not even covering them.. Is it a good idea just do more cardio and end those work outs with good ab workouts?

Atm i've also cut out carb intake and just had protein meals (fish, chicken, meats etc) for breakfast, lunch and tea

please help me guys!

Stay away from floor crunches unless you want to have an upper crossed syndrome. Floor crunches are partial range of motion exercises, if you do partial range of motion curls your arms will never straighten. Same goes for your abs. You need to use the testosterone you produce to get those abs. Develop as much muscle all over to burn the calories thru out the day. Stick to sprint/ walk cardio intervals for training both energy systems. As for the six pack, reverse crunches, cable wood chops, and standing cable crunches with your back facing the cable. For every spine flexion exercise you do you need to counter it with spine extension (dead lifts). Good luck. http://gymsinsanantonio.com
