If you think that looks good, type "toad in the hole" with quotes into google images. You'll be slobbering in no time

I meant toad in the hole looks good. It kind of reminds me of what grandpa use to make. Pigs in the blanket. Where you roll sausage into a biscuit. Haven't had one since i was a kid when he made them for us but they were pretty good. Not sure if your toad in the hole would taste like that though.fitoverforty wrote:which one, mine or Boss's? Your veggie burger looks good too Lynne. Except i don't like mushrooms. But if it's cooked the right way maybe i would. I did like the burger king veggie burger so i'm not giving up hope.
Good luck on your 5k this weekend. Will be thinking of you! let us know how it turns out.

Re: Work In Progress - FitoverForty
Thanks! It is racing season again, lots of Fall and Winter 5K/10K races coming up (Turkey trots, Jingle Bell Runs, etc.) Finally made it through a brutal summer - the hottest I can remember. Now if we can just get all these forest fires put out in Texas. It is really scary. Some are near town and I can actually see smoke off in the horizon. We need rain!!!!musculArgirl2 wrote:Good luck on your 5k this weekend. Will be thinking of you!

No, it is not normal for this many fires to be burning at once, some of them are 0% contained after days of burning.
One, that is near Austin has burned over 1000 homes and thousands of acres, and is still not contained - scary stuff! They say it is the largest & most destructive fire in Texas history. We are in a severe drought, so conditions are very dry and it has been windy. Hopefully will get some rain soon.

Re: Work In Progress - FitoverForty
Race was Saturday. It went really well. I finished 2 minutes faster than last years time.
I missed a 3rd place medal in age division by 4 seconds! Ugh! So...now I have a starting point to work from for race times this season.
Felt good, several of running friends said "you've lost weight!" - that was nice.
I always feel like I am huge, and bigger than everyone else - but when I saw race photos taken of me standing next to female running friends I could clearly see that I am NOT huge or tons bigger than them. I don't know why I have this body image issue...but I know that it can really rob me of alot of joy, if I am constantly feeling down, or less than what I am.
If I enter a race feeling already that I am slow, big, fat, etc...then that is exactly how I will run - especially a mile or two into the race when it starts getting harder - those self doubts will begin to creep in and affect race times...
But Saturday I felt strong, more confident and kept a positive attitude - and it showed in race performance and finishing time. Now I'm actually excited about racing this season - need to continue to work hard, focus on speed training, weight lifting and eating right.
Inspiring quote that best describes why I keep on trying to improve:
"Most people never get there. They're afraid or unwilling to demand enough of themselves and take the easy road, the path of least resistance. But struggling and suffering, as I now saw it, were the essence of a life worth living. If you're not pushing yourself beyond the comfort zone, if you're not constantly demanding more from yourself--expanding and learning as you go--your choosing a numb existence. Your denying yourself an extraordinary trip."

I agree with that when it comes to some things. Some things i'm perfectly happy not struggling and suffering but athletic wise he definitely has a point.fitoverforty wrote:"Most people never get there. WELL DONE Lynne, you are a really inspiring Lady.
Oh and don't be harsh on yourself for how you look. You're quite beautiful on the outside and very beautiful on the inside.
Your words often say more than you might ever realise

Re: Work In Progress - FitoverForty
Left knee sore this morning. The elliptical I used yesterday was a different model from the one I always use, I didn't like it - I felt like I was falling forward or going downhill and could feel some discomfort in knee as soon as I started. As usual...I just tried to power through it - and today I am paying the price.
Short workout this a.m.:
50 crunches
40 bicycle crunches with oblique twist
10 standard pushups
1 x 10 x 2 bulgarian squats
10 diamond incline pushups
10 tricep dips
evening workout (if knee will allow):
2 mile trail run & 6 mile trail bike ride
