Few Questions, need opinions.

Post by iChezONeal »

Okay so I just got on the forums tonight and don't know where this should go but I figured this was a okay spot. I'm 15 years old about 6"0 and weigh 200lbs. I would like to get cut and down to 180.I've been working out for the past month or two but have yet to lose a pound. I've had a solid workout that I feel comfortable with and I have seen gains in the fact I'm lifting more then when I started a month ago. The questions I'd like answered are I use no supplements like creatine or even a protein shake before or after, so I would like to know what supplements i should use? Also If anybody has a diet they would recommend for a 15 year old feel free, because I know this is why I'm not losing weight. I do cardio everyday before i workout and it feels great to know i'm getting stronger but at the same time a little frustrating I'm not losing weight. I know most people will say do more cardio and less weight and more reps but I am already doing this. So what I'm asking for is a good diet, recommended supplements, and just any tips.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long drawn out post.

Diet should be worked on for now. Supplements are not important at this stage.

What meals do you eat and what times do you eat?

Well right now its summer but I go back to school on the 19th. Then I will eat 3 meals a day and probably a snack after school before a workout. But right now is the problem where it's summer meals are off and somedays i'll wake up at 3 and eat too much unhealthy stuff since i'm so hungry. When school starts is when it will be easier, I will eat a lot of the same stuff everyday though and suggestions to give me a larger variety are appreciated.

Breakfast 6:30AM - oatmeal w/ banana and a apple, or cereal with banana and a apple any other healthy breakfasts tips let me know.
Lunch11 or 12 - I'll eat a wrap or pbj or turkey sandwich on wheat a fruit and something else.
Dinner 4-6:30 - whatever mom decides to cook, most likely eat out 2-4 times a week.

To me what i stated is healthy if I should be eating something else let me know. The problem is I have a big appetite so if i don't get full at lunch I over eat at dinner and i usually get seconds at dinner which is not good. I need more foods that will fill me up more. Thanks for the help.

Your meals aren't enough.

To be brief, add another one in around 9AM and one at 2PM, so that will help you get a better caloric amount and hopefully give your body an improved environment to get the results.

Certainly the 9AM meal woudl be goo, as you're going too long between meals; 4.5 hours.

I'd also increase the protein in the Breakfast so you could add a few Egg Whites in there, to a little Ham, Chicken, Turkey etc.

9AM could include things like Low Fat Cheese, a good portion of Peanuts, a Sandwich as examples.

Your strength increases rapidly during the adaptation stage, it will taper off. You need to eat more protein with fat to keep you full longer. You are in your growing stage so you are going to need to eat. Performing more cardio and less weight more reps is very bad advice. Too much cardio wastes muscle, muscle burn calories. Keep adding weight to your program so you keep stressing your body.

The school food you eat is junk, take hard boiled eggs to school and eat them thru out the day along with fruit that is low in fructose. Supplements are a waste of money especially protein shakes. If you want a good post workout drink, organic milk.

Good luck. http://gymsinsanantonio.com

I'd politely disagree in part on protein shakes.

I would agree about them being a waste of money if they're the expensive types ramped up with nutrients and "proprietory blends" and alla that other razzamatazz and hype, but the basic cheap ones with some Protein carbs and one or two other ingredients are fine, as long as you get one with a good taste I feel

Plus some are Glutamine and BCAA boosted.

Milk is a good option, the only downside is the simple Disaccharide Sugar in it, won't help to replenish Muscle Glycogen too well, as it will only affect Bloodsugar.

However a complex high GI carb source will take longer to elevate Bloodsugar, but that could be seen as better, as the slower digesting Carbs would allow insulin production to last longer in tandem with the timespan of the Protein.
