Hi, I'm a college student 5'9", 175lb.
I really want to get in shape, but don't really know how to. I don't have enough self motivation to go out and work out. I was wondering if anyone had good success stories using technology or services like weight watchers or daily burn. What do they do for you and keep you motivated to work on a daily basis?
If it's a website do you actually visit them? I feel like web apps could help so much better... I'm just all really new to this field and really want help in how ppl keep themselves motivated to go workout.
Also I don't really have a good workout plan. How do you get on one? For free?!?!

Free workout plans are probably not hard to find. You could google them, or alternatively if you need bodyweighted ones, I can paste one I've given out on here before. It's all standard stuff to understand, nothing overly complicated.
You can watch exercixe stuff on You Tube and possibly other similar sites like Revver and you can probably download sufficient apps to be of some use. I can't tell you about which are good or not good though, as I'm not someone that uses app based tchnology.

Getting in shape is kinda like quitting smoking. Its just a decision you make. You can say you want to quit as many times as you want but that's not going to do anything till you actually decide. Really wanting to get in shape should provide you with the motivation to workout. The biggest thing I found about maintaining motivation is getting to every scheduled workout for at least the first two weeks. After that it kinda just reaffirms itself, you don't want to miss the next one because it will ruin your perfect track record that you will begin to become proud of. Results come a little after the first month which again provides more motivation (not amazing results but results). You get more energy and your mood will probably improve. This is all just personal experience but I've heard the same from some friends.
Other then that a mp3 helps a ton when your actually at the gym or your starting your jog. Rock metal techno whatever high energy music you enjoy. Just know it may be challenging but you get back what you put in. Best of luck.

A fitness partner who have the same fitness goal may help you get motivated. Assessing your goals may also help. List the benefits you get when exercising: more energy, less sickly, feel good, fit in clothes etc. Make exercise a fun routine rather than a chore it will help you do the work out for the nth time. Play your favorite music while working out. Reward yourself every time you achieve your goal.
