I'm new to this forum. There are way to many search topics on this, but feel free to send me a link to one that has information covering this.
I didn't gain weight through college with the exception of muscle. I have graduated and started a new job and have been in a Sales Training/Agronomy program for 3 months and well, the Ag field feeds you well. LOL. The bad thing is I have also been living out of a hotel with minimal time to workout between travel and work.
I will be home permanently from now on and have since purchased another gym membership and will be getting diet under control once this program is all over. I love to workout when I have the time, whether its walking, lifting, jogging, cycling, or racing quads. I am extremely active when the time allows it.
I am currently 5'8 1~165lbs, it varies. I would like to get down to about 155 or less and lose some fat/tone up.
By diet and working out what is the best way to do this? Does cutting/limiting carbs help a lot? And when it comes to cardio/lifting what do I need to look into? Less weight higher reps?
I know they are probably some newbie questions and like I said, feel free to post some links and I will do some reading.
Thanks

Re: Weight Loss
Limiting Carbs works up to a point, but Carbs are used to provide energy, regulate bloodsugar and feed the Brain, plus many carb sources are quite rich in water stores, which is always a good thing. Carbohydrates, (hydrated carbons).

Re: Weight Loss
Weight loss is about changing your lifestyle 360 degrees. Its not just a typical diet that you have to do for a certain amount of time. Changing the way you eat and changing your perception with the food you eat.

Re: Weight Loss
Lately I have been waking up in the morning and trying to run. Depends on how late I am up the night before. I'm not eating anything then after running I am eating 2-3 eggs and a piece of toast then a protein shake.
I then lift in the evening, taking SuperPump Max before. Followed up by another protein shake, then Casein before bed.
For meals. I try and have smaller meals, but is not always possible. Been eating Subway for lunch, if I can. And it varies for supper. Lately I have been eating Pasta Fagoli (Olive Garden recipe) that Mom has made. And usually another piece of toast (either whole wheat or oat bread).
I am gaining strength. Been doing reps of 12,10,8,8,max.
Monday-Chest
Tuesday-Back
Wednesday-Legs
Thursday-Shoulders
Friday-Bi's, Tri's
Saturday- Fill in if I missed a day throughout the week.

Re: Weight Loss
I have started doing Crossfit this past week and been watching diet. I have already lost 2 pounds and feel a heck of a lot better! Really enjoy these workouts!
Re: Weight Loss
Sounds like you are well on your way if you are already feeling stronger! Mixing cardio and muscle training will help you to see the results combined with a well balanced diet! Make sure to eat frequently to keep that metabolism boosted and not to eat too much at one sitting!
Good luck to you, let us know how your progress goes!
