Sokeone posted here some time back about spot reducing in relation to hormone control or some such thing.

I've also read from a personal trainer, that claimed doing Giant sets on the Biceps followed by Cardio spot reudces the Arms, but I've enver seen the practice done myself, nor have I seen evidence of many people trying this and getting the end result.

So whilst I wouldn't say it's impossible, I'd say it's highly unlikely.

There is no such thing as spot reducing. You have to lose in order to get flab to go away. Doing a certain exercise does not turn fat into muscle. The muscle is already there underneath the fat. In order to see muscle tone you have to get rid of the layer of fat over top of the muscle. The only way to do that is eating less calories and eating healthy foods while also exercising several days a week. I am doing that by lifting weights followed by cardio for 2 hours a day 5 days a week and have lost 45 lbs this way.

You've also lost about 1.5 hours of your day that wasn't necessary, GOD 2 hours a day ?! The people at your gym probably are not appreciating it either, as it takes up machines for nothing.Try higher intensity or interval training, shorten the time. Also losing fat isn't always a case of decreasing calories, sometimes people aren't eating enough calories & therefore retain fat. So its more about quality of foods & eating enough calories to allow your body to release the fat.

Agree with all the ladies here... There is no such thing as spot reducing...

Instead of long cardio sessions, do HIIT like Bonnie said

Why don't you try this:

On the Elliptical (safer than to do HIIT on treadmill...)

1min fast pace (You probably want to start with 70% of your max, but as your cardio gets better, you should get closer and closer to your 99%)
1min slow pace
For 20min total

Short, highly intense workout that burns lots of calories very effectively.
I always add it to workout for a couple weeks to tone down just before going on vacation, and it works great :P

And you can also play with the numbers...
1min fast pace, 2min slow pace if it's too hard for you the first week
I like to do mine at 1min fast pace, 30 sec slow pace... But keep it feasible and safe at first!!

Do you still need to lose weight or are you just having trouble with exercises that benefit those muscles?
I do pole dancing for fitness and it has been fabulous for toning arms all over and strengthening core :)

I know what you mean! I had that problem.

You must start strength training along with cardio. I love workouts like running, cycling and the stairclimber but to really get that jiggly fat off your arms you're gonna have to do workouts that really gets your arms moving. Boxing, Step Aerobics (Cathe Friedrich has thee best step aerobics which incorporates a lot of arm movement), pushups. Kickboxing is great because of all the punches and hooks that you do (I recommend Taebo and Chalene's Cardio Party Mix). Basically you need to do workouts that actually gets your entire body moving. Jumping jacks and jump rope are also some great workouts that help the upper body. Be consistent and don't get discouraged because that area of the body can take awhile for you to lose but it'll happen if you eat right and work hard. Hope this helps :D
