protein shake that tastes good & cheap

Post by fit-fanatic-2025 »

I know this has been asked before but does anyone have a protein shake that is cheap that tastes really good too? I have bought EAS protein powder mix (not their whey protein powder) directly from them one time a couple years ago and I liked it. But that is out of price range to buy on a continous basis. I can try walmart and see if they carry it and if its cheaper.

the Whey protein powder i have now, is gross. I don't drink it too much and it was a little expensive. Any other suggestions?

Walmart does have the EAS soy protein powder in choc. and vanilla. It is about $10 to order it online from them - not sure how much it is in store. :D

I've always liked Optimum Whey protein. I'm not "married" to any particular brand, but that one does taste good and it is not too expensive. One of the best ways to keep the cost down is to buy it in bulk. I usually buy a 10lb bag--that way you are paying less for packaging and buying more actual product.

$10 is more in price range. I'm going to check walmart out and see what they have.

Thanks for the suggestion Kev.

Yes, I have. I used the vanilla flavor, it was good. :D I wanted to try the choc. flavor, but they were always out of that one - so it must be good too.

I would limit the use of soy protein because apparently it can really effect your body hormonally and often leads to weight gain in both men and women. I read something about it online relating to estrogen and vegan protein recently, and when I was seeing a personal trainer in late 2009 she told me to avoid it at all costs. I don't know if the research has changed in the last year, but I just wanted to put it out there.

I don't like whey either, so I feel your pain on that one. A friend recommended Biox Extreme Power Whey Isolate (all natural, low-sugar) in chocolate flavour and I have yet to pick it up out of fear! She claims it tastes more like real cocoa than chocolate, which sounds promising to me. I'll let you know about the price and the taste when I pick it up.

Too late! I already bought it last night! I'm trying it this morning. :( I was planning on having it at least once a day. I haven't tried it so i don't know if it tastes good. But yeah whey i can't drink on a regular basis at least the kind i bought (tastes horrible).

I find this info a little frustrating.

Aha! So, it's the soy milk we drink that has been keeping me fat!!! lol!! (just kidding)
We drink organic soy milk instead of reg. milk (lactose issues with son). Is this something I need to worry about? Will it cause weight gain or other issues and/or problems down the road for kid?

Thanks for the info Les!
I completely agree that when something is villainized beyond belief it is definitely important to keep things in perspective. Everyone is different, and a lot of people really prefer it as a source of protein.

Sorry for being annoying with little nips - I mean quips! LOL It's really nerdy that I think I'm funny for posting that.

Me personally i drink Muscle Milk...Banana flavor is favorite. Although it might be expensive (i pay $2.00 a pop) to me it sure is worth it.

try NOW products, taste is ok, price is good, quality i think they sayits organic or natural something like that, but the price is fair
i got 10lbs of whey isolate for $80, so i imagine the whey mix is cheaper
