It sounds like your meal and exercise plan is off to a great start!

I would maybe just watch the almonds and the bran bread... keep it to only one slice of bread per meal, and don't eat almonds more than once per day. 6-8 almonds is a good dose of healthy fat, but you don't need it more than once per day to support healthy weight loss. Vegetables instead of almonds the other times that you are hungry would be ideal. I'm always trying to get more vegetables into diet too : )

I know nothing about hormones or diabetes, so I am not in a good place to comment on that. I would listen to Les, she knows her stuff!

If you were diabetic, then Glucophage would be a reccomended type of medication by your physician.

If you were also diabetic, then you'd be wise to limit certain types of high GI foods like Pasta, Rice, Potato, Bread, Parsnips, Cereals, Dried Fruit, (note I said limit not abolish), plus you'd be wise to also not overcarb which means limiting to around 40g Carbs max per meal and focusing then on Fat and protein amounts per meal, in relation to a reccomended healthy caloric intake per day.

Though this limit for Carbs could be the same for non-diabetics, to avoid eating too many Carbs that wouldn't get burned and converted to Fat instead.

Females need around 1,800 calories a day for sedentary living, so for normal types of moderate exercise, you could add another 300-400 calories on there.

If your Carbs were maxed at 40g, 6x a day, that's 240g which is 960 calories.

You could then split the remaining calories 50/50, so working from 2,200 that's 1,240 remaining calories, which is 620 calories of Protein and 620 calories of Fat per day, or 155g Protein and around 70g Fats, equating to just over 25g Protein and 11.5g Fats per meal.

I think that would be okay, because if you ate low to moderate GI foods or some High GI, in no more than a 50/50 low GI, high GI ratio, you'd be fine, bearing in mind that some Carbs can be lost if the source is heated, I.E. boiled Carrot versus raw.

Hopefully that all makes sense.

I wanted to say that I have PCOS as well and I haven't heard of glucophage being used, but I have heard of metformin being used. Metformin is a diabetic medicine but it also has offlabel uses for weight loss. This wouldn't be prescribed unless you had high levels of insulin (not nesc diabetes, just above normal) There is also spiractalone which is a diuretic that will pull off extra water that you are holding, but it saves the potassium. This also can help get rid of Aldactone which is elevated with PCOS alot. I am not on either of these right now and have just started to workout and watch what I eat. I have an appointment next week to go in and get bloodwork done to see if either metformin or spiractalone or both would help me. A friend of mine who also has PCOS takes both of these and she has watched what she eats and also started exercising moderately and has lost 72lbs in 6 months or so. Good luck and I hope this helps!
