How to lose fat without losing much weight?

Post by kitson »

I weighed in weight and checked height too, one of these days. weight was ideal for height but then there was this part where it showed the body fat percentage. And it went over the ideal body fat percentage. How am i supposed to lower the body fat percentage without losing weight, is it possible?

Hi Kitson,

Body fat percentage calculators don't take into consideration your body composition, so it doesn't really tell you that much, it's more of a general tool. For example if a pregnant person, or a heavily muscled person, used the calculator it might say those people are obese, when we know they are not in any danger at all due to their body weight. You can't get a very accurate body fat measurement without going to see a personal trainer and having it done with callipers. I would get your body fat checked professionally if you are concerned - get an accurate measurement.

If you're happy with your weight and want to lose fat for aesthetic reasons, clean up your diet and try to switch up your exercise routine : )

If you are still interested in an answer...

When I started working out, I barely changed diet at all. I took N.0. Xplode as a pre workout and already had a protein-heavy diet. I was about 225 lb. when I started work (had recently recovered from surgery), 2 months later I was about 220 lb. with a lot less fat and a lot more muscle bulk. Your metabolism increases with the more muscle it has to support, so I lifted heavier weight with 5-8 reps per set and that seemed to build muscle faster than usual 10-12 rep sets. Hope that helps! :)
