Hey guys,
Starting weight: 283 lbs.
Goal weight: 190-210 lbs.
So I got a gym membership a little over a week ago. Last week I went to the gym 5 times. Each day I began with a mile run and either did arms/chest/back/shoulders/abs or Legs/abs and ran 3/4ths a mile afterwards. During the weekdays I only have about an hour timeframe at the gym. I go to the gym first thing when I wake up. I drink a scoop of muscle milk before I get to the gym. I'm also eating healthy as well. Breakfast, Clif builder bar, lunch, snack, dinner. first week I lost 5 lbs. About a year ago I did p90x for a couple months and had great results. I'm back to the weight I started p90x to begin with. I remember first week of p90x I dropped 11 lbs so only dropping 5 is discouraging.
Anyways, to question. Would it be ok if I did p90x cardio (plyometrics, yoga, and kempo x) mon, weds, Friday while still going to the gym in the mornings? Or would it hurt body more than help?
Thanks in advance guys and gals

Re: Need Advice*
You can definitely do both, just make sure that you keep eating healthy, and rest plenty. If you are strapped for time I would recommend doing some MRT (metabolic resistance training). It only takes 30-45 minutes per workout, and gets great results. http://zenphitness.blogspot.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; gives an introduction to MRT. If you want to get the weight off, and keep it off, without it being a huge chore and a constant struggle, you have to examine your psychology a little bit to see what it is that is keeping you from keeping the body you want. http://www.zenphitness.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I really admire your motivation and dedication, thanks for the post, I feel more motivated now.

It's good, you can do it! Like Zen says, just make sure you rest - have at least 1 day per week that you don't train, and shoot for 8 hours of sleep every night.
One concern I do want to mention is overtraining specific muscles - if you smoke your pecs and triceps doing a Push Ups based P90X for example, then that night or the next day go to the gym and do a bench press, it's counter-productive. Your muscles are literally torn up (micro-tears, but still) after training, and if you don't let them heal, you're working with the same version of yourself that you had the first day you tore them up. You need to let the micro-tears heal in between sessions, so you're always building the stronger version of yourself, by working on the strongest version of those muscles; not overtraining inflamed, torn up muscles and preventing them from healing (harder, bigger, and stronger!).
As long as you don't do the same muscles 2 days in a row, you're golden. Certain muscles can take it better than others, like abs and quads, but be careful! And rest!
Let us know how it goes!
