Try and involve them in something they might like, like group based exercises, or WII-fit, or going swimming together.
Give them small practical changes to their diet thye might like, I.E. Low Fat cheese versus regular cheese, or Peanuts as snacks, or Sandwiches, Microwavable soups, Beans, rice dishes, boiled Eggs, Yoghurt or Low Fat Cheese on Toast with Toamto and Mushrooms, as snacks. Kind of like Pizza but not quite, but would probably taste good enough.
Remind them if they eat things like Bacon and Sausages, to grill them and then it lets some of the fat drain away and also trim off some rind and eat scrambled or poached eggs not fried.
Cereals can also be a good one because you can add things like powdered flax, cinnamon, honey, nuts, ground nutmeg, yoghurt and mocha powder to them and have them hot in the microwave or with hot milk on them, so there's different combinations there too.
So there's some ideas for you.

The Wii Fit is a great idea. I have a young cousin who did an amazing job getting in shape and losing weight using that tool. She was gaining about 30 lbs every year from the age of 13, and at 20 she really needed to make a change to maintain her quality of life. Finding something that kids enjoy and have a bit of an aptitude for seems to help a lot because it builds their confidence and helps them stick with it long enough to see and feel the positive changes.
For nutrition there are also blogs and Facebook pages for things like "Paleo Parenting" that encourage kids to eat meat and vegetables. They sell tshirts that say "Eat like a dinosaur" and have some recipes - pretty cute

Listen to Tony Robbins and get them to hate fat foods with his methods!

The discussion of weight loss with a child, adolescent, or teenager can be an extremely difficult topic to bring up. As a parent, you may struggle with how to share with your child about your concern for them and yet at the same time show them unconditional love and acceptance. Loving your child unconditionally does not mean that you can not bring up the topic of weight loss with them. In fact, highlighting your unconditional love for your child throughout all of your interactions with them, whether weight loss related or not, can help your child to see and absolutely know that they are 100% loved by you.
