eating plan

Post by thebearnecessities »

Hope its OK to post what I'm doing. I'm new to this stuff (eating better) so just hoping for some reassurance or feedback.

I've lost 3 stone the last few months and am close to being in the 'healthy' weight category for age and height.

35 @6ft2".

All ive done is try to eat like a cave man :D

Ive cut out sugar, bread & pasta.

Its similar to paleo. Im determined not to be hungry so ive just been eating whenever i feel like it but the stuff ive been eating is just better food than it was before e.g. I eat meat and salad and veg.

I always try to stock the cupboards with healthy snacks that take no prep so I can grab them when I don't want to cook e.g. nuts, fruit, yogurt, carrots and hummus.

I fill bottle of water EVERY TIME its empty so it easier to just grab a drink whenever I want.

I've made a new hobby out of cooking so I'm not eating ready meals with all their added sugar.

Main thing I'm doing is just thinking if it as gradually working towards a great diet. I'm not trying to do it all perfect straight away. Just small tweaks that I can sustain forever. And I'm comfortable eating healthy fats like olive oil, honey, quality butter, fat on steaks etc.

I eat low carb but I'm not battling hunger. I just eat better food. I think if u r hungry in you days then ur plan won't last.

I've recently this week started experimenting with only eating between 1pm and 8pm. This has given a lot if people great results (called intermittent fasting) but it doesn't work well for some women be warned. I've been surprising not that hungry in the mornings even though I'm skipping breakfast. I make sure I eat loads in the allotted hours. Some people think this is how cavemen ate. They'd spend all day hunting and gathering for their families and eat most of it in the evening when the fire gets going back at the cave :D

On exercise days I'm a bit more relaxed about carbs (called carb cycling I think), I'll eat brown rice, beautiful roasted sweet potatoes and carrots.

Thought I'd just put this out there and see what people thought?

I don't see much wrong with that in fairness, but I'd still eat breakfast anyway. Cavemen had little choice but to do what you suggested, unless they left a small surfeit of what had been caught and killed the previous day, so as to be able to eat something in the morning, to hopefully energise themselves for the tiring hunting activities necessary.

Having breakfast keeps you more alert, can help to get your blood sugar back up and kick starts your metabolism.

I think generally you're eating a healthy diet. I would suggest eating something for breakfast, however, as studies have shown that eating breakfast is good for your health for a number of reasons. Try having some vegetables or fruits and a healthy protein and see if it makes a difference. Otherwise, good work on your diet.

Yes, just like everyone else mentioned you should be eating breakfast, within about 1-2 hours of waking up. I would almost advise that you completely switch you eating schedule (Eat like a King in the morning, and little to nothing at night). This is so that you are not 'hoarding' any of that food fat in the night. However then you won't be eating like a caveman, which seems to be what you want? Anyways that is just suggestion, but you can still stick with your plan considering the amount of weight you have already lost  . Hope this helps!
