Food Advice

Post by tnfirefighter »

I have just finished reading an article. It stated that the FDA is saying that we are not to consume more than 6oz of meat a day, that it is to be broken up in 1 oz per meal. It also stated that we are to limit our intake of corn. Has anybody else read this article? I understand if you eat marbled beef everyday that it could cause heart disease or heart issues. But corn...what is wrong with corn lol ?

Corn is fiberous, and there are benefits.

Corn is a Complex Carb.

Corn has a good level of Protein and Carbs.

Corn contains Lutein, and posisbly Zeaxanthin as well.

Corn is also a good source of things like Magnesium as well.

However too much Fibre could still cause you to get the squits.

There may be a possibility that Corn could be connected to Aflatoxins, although they normally are a mould associated with Peanuts, though usually Peanuts that are contaminated, or old.

If Corn does have a connection to Aflatoxins, might be why.

Can you remember where the article was, or how to access it.

what's an ounce in kgs?

either way 100g or so each sitting is a good way to go or a palm sized portion of meat

corn is a veggie so it's not he devil but there are better veggie options to go with...they are the worst veg with peas but better than ice cream obviously...mix them with other crunchy veg like carrots and broccoli and there's no problem

They're technically not even Veggies. Corn is a Grain, Peas are Legumes. The main kinds of differences are the higher Amno Acid content, and growth method of both, in comparison to a Veggie.

However Corn for reasons I don't completely understand, does come under the heading of 1 of your 5 a day, if you believe one or two adverts, even despite it technically not coming under one of the two typical "five a day" foodstuff headings.

Probably just makes it easier than saying 5 portions of Fruit and Vegetables and Peas and Corn, and maybe Beans a Lentils too. Bit of a mouthful I expect.

Peas are also another good Fibre source, and are a source of Magnesium, Iron and Vit C, amongst other things.
