Does smoking affect muscle growth ?
I heard it doesnt, and i heard it does. I heard that it does--but only when u do it during or right after your workout--cuz other substances get into ur muscles instead of oxygen so it affects muscle growth.
I wanted to make sure, cuz I dont wanna loose any muscle cuz of this--i smoke once a day--sometimes once every 2-3 days--that doesnt affect rite..

smoking is for poor, abuser, junkie and is disgusting, horrendous and you will smell shit and black teeth etc. klol
For muscles growth, yes it will have an effect, it has an effect on everything you do, and think to the others too, you think they like it to have your shit in their face?
You are serious about fitness/strength goals and healthy life well quit this shit right now.

I don't completely agree with the first bit, but the bit in bold is 100% true.Christopheel wrote:smoking is for poor, abuser, junkie and is disgusting, horrendous and you will smell shit and black teeth etc. klol
After all some Doctors smoke, and they aren't poor. Though they are an intruiging enigma. All that understanding, and still smoke.
I bet they don't work as Cardiologists, or diagnose Bronchial disorders, they probably specialise in areas with possibly less smoking related problems, like Haematology, Neurology etc etc, as opposed to Heart and Lung problems.
I mean how could you spend all day, telling people they need to quit Smoking, because their lung functions and Cardiovascuilar health were dud, then spend time at home and work, dragging on big Fat Havana Rollies?
Talk about hypocritical

Well im not saying that me smoking is the right thing but i must defend myself if im basically called a shit bag haha
what are you to do when you start for the wrong reasons and its hard to quit. dont you think that all smokers know of all the health effects and problems that come with smoking?
im not judging anyone based on if they smoke or not but you have to think about how hard it is for someone like me to quit smoking. i have been smoking for close to 6 years (from the age of 15) and smoking has become so much apart of life that to quit would have to be a whole life change.
for example everytime after i eat i like to have a cig, or when i drink i always smoke ha to just wake up one day and say "ehhh i dont think i will smoke today." is like a crack head saying i will just pass on for the day hahaha
before you start judging everyone who smokes and completely putting them down for smoking how bout you encourage them to quit instead of insulting them based on what they already know ha.
dont take this as being rude i just come here for help and im no were near perfect and if i was i wouldn't be looking for answers on these forums all day haha

do you judge people on drugs/ don't say you don'y cos everyone does but is it easy for them to quit? probably not but we make life choices don't we...good one's and bad one's but when you already know it's sure way to die and you still think it's too hard, that's just being soft
if i held a gun to your head would you say shoot just to see if in the long run it kills you?
a far cry but it's the same
the member's above are just posting their opinions too which they are entitle too
i would love to encourage tou to quit but it seems like you're mkind is already made up
plenty of people have quit who have smoked 5 times as long as you and there'snothing wrong with a life change if it's a positive one

When I was 21 I smoked almost 2 packs a day - 3 packs if I went out drinking. I could run and do all that with little to no affect. But by the time I reached early 30's and the metabolism slows, smoking became a real drag. I couldn't play full court basketball well, running out a double in softball (I've never been particularly fast) would make me breath harder than I wanted to. So I quit at 32 and it's been 13 years since I last had a cigarette.
Smoke one cig a day - well good for you - if that's your vice and you can keep it at that - I doubt it will ever affect your working out in the near term.
And as a habit - it's hard to consider a cig or two a day as a "habit" in the traditional sense.
Now if you're referring to refer, one a day will catch up to you.

Stop smoking and do it now. You have no problem now, but the effects of this habit will come up to bite you in the #@@ eventually. Just for the record, I am pushing 40 and run 3 miles in 22:50. Hope you can quit!NavyBuilder wrote:Well swanso, what bout a guy like me who smokes about a pack a day?
