Daily Caloric intake: 1336 cals/day

Post by DvSxx6 »

Hey everyone,
I'm 5'1 and about 110 LBS and it was recommended by ShapeFit that I consume about 1836 cals/day. I want to lose weight, so I know that I'd have to take 1836 - 500 = 1336 daily caloric intake.

The thing is I'm not sure of what things to be eating, how many carbs/fats/proteins I should be eating throughout the day, what kinds of snacks to eat [I've been eating either baked lays chips, or those pre-packaged 100 cal snacks. They're yummy but I wana mix things up too]. I've also been eating some celery with hummus but I need to bump up amount of calories in order to meet goal of 1336 cals per day. Any suggestions? In short, I need healthy, and simple to eat on-the-go kind of snacks/meals and I need to know how many grams of carbs/fats/proteins, etc that I should be getting daily [not that I'll be always counting how much I need, but just to get a general idea of what I should be consuming]. For meals, I've been eating the "Eating Right: Veggie or Soy Protein burgers". Those are good too but I'm getting kinda sick of sandwiches. Oh how I'd love to eat least some carbs, and yes I know, everything in moderation but at this point, I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do since I've just recently started exercising and eating healthy again [not 100% sure I know what I'm doin just yet].

I'm still tryin to figure out how to meet goal of 1336 cals per day. I'm thinkin of doing the following:

Breakfast = 300 cals
Snack = 200 cals
Lunch = 300 cals
Snack = 200 cals
Dinner = 200 cals
Snack = 150 cals

That'd be around 1350 cals per day. I'm also wondering how long I would need to work out for in order for me to lose weight? How many calories would I have to burn in order to lose weight? I usually do 1-2 hours of high intensity workouts so I know I'm definitely burning something. BTW, I'm taking the Mega-T Green Tea Dietary Supplement. I've been on it for 3 days. So far it's been helping me concentrate better and I have a lil' more energy than usual [it could be cause I've stopped smoking 2 days ago too] but anyway, has anyone tried this? I've heard great things about it and I'm not particularly worried about not seeing the results right away cause I know that it'll take time.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any suggestions and/or feedback! :D

- your 110pds for god's sake!!!!
- don't count cal's they'll only do your head in like it sounds like they are...follow this

meal 1 as soon as you get up - fruit, high fibre cerial, protein powder in water
meal 2 - fruit, solid protein (chicken, red meat, fish, turkey, eggs, fish, tuna, salmon)
meal 3 - solid protein, veg, salad
meal 4 - solid protien, veg, salad
meal 5 - solid protein

immediately after wt training - protein powder in wtaer and bread OR rice OR pasta OR sugary cerial...you need to earn the right to have these so if you don't train tyou can't have them

onto training, you can't train with high intensity for 2hrs, it's not physiologically possible...you need wts x 45mins x 3 days a week with 1 day of sprints (3 x 100 - 200m) each week...your only littel so ebndless exercise sessions won;t do a thing

really all you need to do is put some muscle on to give you some definition, i doubt whther you have to decrease wt and suggest you don;t actually

maybe post your entire training plan

So here I go...

What is right for one person is not always correct for another. You need to focus more on getting the right sort of nutrition. Counting calories is a waste of time.

If you aren't counting grams then why even count calories?!?!? The snacks you listed are full of sugars. You most definitely need to boost your calories up more than just to a little over 1300. The low calories will slow your metabolism down and stall fat loss/muscle gains.

Honey, you are 110 and very petite. You shouldn't worry too much about moderations right now and more about getting what your body needs to thrive properly. advice is to research as much as possible but make sure that the material is written by an expert (i.e. nurse, doctor, RD, etc.)
I promise you, from personal experience that doing loads of cardio is a waste of time. Pick up some weights to start toning. I have finally cut down to 30 minutes every other day and have not gained a pound and gaining lean muscle mass. You don't want to be "skinny fat." There is another post in the forums by BossMan about calorie burning readings on the machines. WASTE OF TIME to count how much you have burned. If you are already taking in less that 1300, you are in a major deficit and not doing your metabolism or body any good. Diet pills are another WASTE OF TIME and metabolism destroyer. You will see results when you fuel your body properly and not with processed foods. Eating healthy is not that expensive. Besides, the money you waste on the pills can go to healthy alternatives

I do commend you on putting down the cancer sticks. I hope you keep that up.

Hey guys,
Thanks for your feedback. Okay, well when I meant that I do high intensity workouts, they usually consist of jump roping, running [for about 20 min], DVD workouts that tone, I use dumbells to tone as well, and I also incorporate some yoga and pilates while using resistance bands.

I do want to keep track of grams, but I thought that'd be a little too obessive. Maybe not? Well from what I'm reading anyhow. I used to have a slight eating disorder, so the main thing for me is to make sure that I'm having an adequate amount of calories. I agree that maybe I just need toning rather than weight loss, but it would be nice to lose some of the jiggle [yes, at 110 I do have areas that jiggle and am surprisingly, starting to develop some cellulite. GROSS!]. TMI? lol

Also, I know that some of you have mentioned eating fruit. That's something I don't eat much of, though I really should. I know that some fruits are higher in sugar than others.. are there any fruits you'd recommend that aren't too sugary?

Thanks so much again, I really appreciate it

- your "cellulite" area's isn't fat, i think you just don;t have any muscle so any fat you do have is more evident then the average person
- you need proper wt workouts, relative heavy wts, limited cardio too for mine
- fruit?? any, they're full of minerals, vitamins etc

Anyone at any weight can have cellulite, it has a lot to do with estrogen production. Make sure you drink enough water (4 liters/day) and start in with the heavy lifting.

Thanks for the comments y'all. :D

And oh yeah, I drink a ton of water everyday, so I'm goin to the bathroom pretty frequently. It sucks but that's the way it's got to be. I've also got to start working out again [I've been on hold for the past 3 days cause I'm studying for final exams]. :-( Ugh. This sucks, and I probably won't have time to work out til' next Thurs after exams are over :cry:

Just wondering, what would be considered high sugar content? I read that in Honey Bunches of Oats it has 6grams which according to calorie-count.com is a high number. Some of snacks that I'm eating daily must be very high in sugar then, since they are about 9-13 grams or sometimes more. I'm eating that amount of sugar everyday! :shock: I have to stop this since now I know that even 6 grams are high! I didn't know that. I thought maybe 22 grams was high [which of course it is, but I thought 6 grams was low]. lol. Shows how much I know about nutrition. The good news is that I am starting to eat fruit in the morning such as an apple or an orange, but I know that some fruits have more sugar than others. I hope I'm eating the right ones lol.

I guess what I really want to know is what would be considered high fat/sodium/sugar?
