Diet Frustration

Post by mastertrainer1 »

You didn't really lay out the details of your diet - the when and what. But I can help. Being active is good. It sounds like there is some self-sabotaging behavior going on - Am I right? Here's advice. Take the 1500 calories and spread it out to four or five small meals a day. Eat plenty or veggies, fruits, protein, and very little fat. Stay away from the 'trash carbs' - table sugar and starches (junk food) Eat 'low carb' on your non-workout days. Eat carbs 'pre-workout' for more energy.

I am not sure as to your excercise routine(s), but these principles apply to all. Long term aerobic sessions are best for 'fat loss'. Fast paced walking, stairmaster, etc. for a period of thirty minutes to an hour. You also need to do some moderate to light resistance training. Here's the key to success - carb up for resistance training, and eat little or no carbohydrates before you begin any long term 'fat burning' session. It would also help if you could train in the morning rather than afternoon or evening.

A pace of about 1-2 punds per week should be your starting goal - then taper off to one half pound per week. Deal with your 'human side' by selectively going 'off track' with a few meals each week. It will actually help you in deal with cravings. There is a book called 'The Untold Secrets of Permanent Weight Loss' that can help further. You can find it on the net.

Best of Luck,

See, this is what im talking about!! The advice I have been given is that long, steady aerobics (cardio\0 is a waste of time and short HIIT sessions are better. Also that light weights are pointless and lifting heavy will give the best results.

What is a girl to believe???

Steady state may become something the body adapts to. Also meaty weights workouts will help build muscles, bone density, connective tissues strength etc etc, and still be part of weight loss.

Womens test levels are not high enough, to promote potentially huge gains in muscle, from meaty weightlifting. Unless you took Steroids or maybe a Prohormone, big mass is not possible in women.

Slower cardio for long periods does burn calories quite well, but faster shorter burtss are probably better for Fat burn, and as long as yo eat properly beforehand you will sacrifice little ot no muscle.

Think of it like driving a Car. You don't use as much fuel up travelling a 10 mile distance say, when you're only doing 30mph, as compared to if you're doing 60mph.

Faster Cardio for shorter burts, could potentially create a more thermogenic effect, or make you feel warmer, same dealy with weights, (heavier as opposed ot lighter lifting), and if you're training in the winter for example, and you leave the Gym not feeling to some extent warm, after 45 mins to 1 hour, you're either using potentially inadequate intensity, or your Gym has a very bad draught problem.
