How do you add weight to ab exercises?

Post by Baseballkid14 »

I want abs to get stronger and I read somewhere here that I should add weight to some of exercises. The problem is, I dont have a weighted vest and they're pretty expensive. Cant really put a plate on stomach because it would just fall off when i do the exercise. What should I do?

Try attatching a rope to a Crossover or Tricep Press machine, kneel down, have the rope over your Shoulders, and then move forwards from the waist, utilising the Abs.

I've seen this technique done in pictures before.

That may work well with chin ups, but does it with sit ups and other exercises? I mean, the weights are sliding all around the back making exercise very challenging.

Try holding a dumbbell over your chest.

if its for situps then why not just hold like a 10kg plate a few inches from your chest and do them?

I have a hard time holding it there. I like to place hands on opposite shoulders and it makes holding a plate hard.

ab secret number 1: make exercises harder through leveage points

meaning make yourself longer, extend your legs, extend your arms while holding a straight line which is why planks and rollouts are the best core exercises there is

too much wt work for core will give you a blocky appearence making you look fat/solid

Abs: hold a round weight plate on your chest not above as you want to isolate the abs and not work the chest shoulders and arms, rest it on your chest cross your arms over the weight plate and hold it and crunch.

Oblique Crunch: Hold two dumbbells in either hand from a standing position and just bend at the waist to the left and then repeat to the right, try not to use your arms at all.

Oblique Twist: Sit on a chair/weight bench, Hold two light dumbbells in your hands above your lap, palms facing each other and twist to the right, then left and repeat.

Thats your three main midsection muscle groups hit using weights.

I hope this helps.
