fat all over the waste

Post by cherylhop27 »

This is first time to this site (loving it). I don't have any pics of me yet but here's question. I am a avid runner I run at least 5 days a week if not more. Currently I am training to start running races but one issue that I have is I'm over weight (by 40 lbs)cause even though I run I still eat like a horse(being honest but I'm working on that). Most of fat hangs around and so called "love handles".

What exercise is best to lose weight in the love handle area? Help PLZ!!!

Diet is a huge contributer here by the sound of it. You need a clean diet - read 'read before posting' sticky in diet section for advice on diet.

In general eat 6 small meals throughout the day including complex carbs, lean protein and lots of veggies (some fruit).

You need to be doing full body workouts with weights 3 x a week for 1 hour a time. Include all muscle groups and inparticular for your problem area deadlifts and squats.

Any more questions are welcome and everyone will help you.

Sort the diet first and foremost! :D

I read the "read before posting" just haven't taken all that info in yet. I am working on diet at this moment. I am 32 and would love to be thinner by birthday in June.

I do run anywhere from 45-60 min about five days a week. Would you consider that full body or no. Also I don't have the imagination to strength train for an hour got any suggestions there?

No, Clare is speaking of full body weight training. Adding weight training to a cardio regime will boost your metabolism and aid in weight loss. You could run 2 hours a day five days a week and you won't yield the results you would with a combination of cardio and weight training.

the thing with cardio is that it's energy efficient so running that much won't help much

i would strongly suggest getting the wt off raining properly (i hate endless cardio) as the extra wt and repetitive estress of running will injure you sooner rather then later

I appreciate your comments. I love running and for right now that is what I intend to do. I am really just asking for some suggestions that would help love handles like what kind of exercises do you do for them?

Since you like to run. And it seems your in good for that one. Try to add some resistance like adding some ankle and wrist weights. I have an adjustable ankle weights (20lbs. max .) And if this will not be a challenge/resistance for you. Use the Weighted Vest. As for excercise, you can try lunges, squats, bench or box jump, stair lunges, and calves excercise will do too.

Targeting just love handles is spot fat reduction on the body, which is impossible. You have to lose fat, period, in order to lose those love handles. Add weights, and clean up your diet.

Wrist weights and Ankle weights aren't brilliant. You don't want to have weights adding reistance around the Ankle and Wrist Joints, it could possibly be detrimental in the long-term.

The answer to your question has been given in this thread. Its just a matter how bad do u want it and how driven u are, as to whether u are going to do it.

1)Clean your diet 2) A correct weight training program 3X a week targeting your entire body over the 3 days. Keep doing the running but cut back a little.
These three things will give u the results u are after.

sit ups

Post by ANDREA321 »

i think you should do side bends with a 5-10 pound dumbell. Crunches and sit-ups. Also, stay away from sugar, it goes straight to the gut. :P

Lift weights at least two times a week for the upper body and two times a week for the lower body ( 2 time a week will give you 80% of the gains that lifting each section 3 times a week will do)

You must alter your food to be eating clean and or with less calories going in than going out at a minimum.

Keep running if you like it, Just be sure to add this in as well for you to get the results you seek.

Results will take a while and you must be consistant in your workouts in order to achieve them.

Good luck.

Sdie Bends are mediocre. Not completely rubbish, but not very worthwhile, and take up more training time. Unless the individual is perhaps training for a BB comp, I don't think personally Side Bends are all that necessary, for regular lifters.

Not being rude just saying.

First I want to let clare know that I was not meaning to sound rude or like I didn't appreciate the tips I was just saying.

I really do appreciate all the advice and I will definitely listen to them. I know you can't spot train that wasn't what I was meaning simply stating that most I mush is in that area so I feel I need to work harder on that area.

Thanks again loved the tips I will keep you posted.
