Alcohol

Post by Bigboi118 »

I rarely drink alcohol and when i do its red wine with steak or roast. What is bad about getting smashed on spirits in regards to training and diet? Some people say it proper messes u up, but why?

Im goin to be playin poker tomoro and im sure mr jack or mr vodka may start calling, should i avoid them like the plague?

It is counterproductive to all the hard work you have been doing. Getting smashed will only result in a fierce headache, upset stomach, and general nausea the next day - why put yourself through that? Your body doesn't deserve it. If you are not a "drinker" per say, and only have an occasional glass of wine with dinner - then I would stear clear of any over indulging. It just isn't worth it (in humble opinion). It can also cause some bad food choices - can we say "pizza at midnight"! :lol:

if they call....don't answer! :D I don't know the technical aspects of hard liquor versus things like wine or beer - but I think that hard liquor is harder on a person, especially a non-drinker like yourself. If you want to have something, how 'bout something light - like Amatlak suggested? A beer or two will leave you feeling alot better the next day - than a few too many rounds of jack or vodka...just sayin' :)

I love beer and will never ever give it up. I drink on Saturday and Sunday's for the most part along with 1-2 glasses of red wine everynight as well. I have been able to maintain weight no problem at all no matter how much or little I drink I never really see a big difference.

Thanks for the responses, saying i was going to get smashed may be a bit of an exageration, lol

I was just curious as to what effect spirits has on the body, slowing down metabolism may be a good thing!!! metabolism is quite high

I may have a drink or two ill see, i am very disciplined so i wont be anywhere near overdoing it. At the moment i am bulking and diet is all
clean, all the real good stuff and at least 3ltrs of water a day.

Its just i have heard some people say things like a drinking session puts you back about 2 weeks of your training, if that is true ill never drink again!!

Yes, I'm always impressed from reading your workout journal , you are very disciplined, so I really don't think you will be set back by having one or two drinks at a weekend party.
But here is a link to an article about effects of alcohol and fitness - while all of it does not apply to your situation, it may give you some info on the general effects of alcohol once it is consumed. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/drobson194.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
