Why I'm Leaving Shapefit site

It has been drawn to attention by several members that the posting under the title "For swanso and beachdog" may have been missed by most members. To clarify the situation then, reason for leaving this site is simply a matter of professional ethics. Moderator "BossMan" has formal...

Sorry Bossman, for not replying sooner. Have been attending a medical conference and then didn't see the posting. Differences of opinion are inevitable when people have received their training in different fields and at different universities. tutors and professors always jumped on me from a great h...

Like Lesplease said, it's more about what you put in your mouth. That is, if you're doing a complete ab workout three times a week, then the rest of the equation is reducing your levels, but bear in mind that most people will never see a six-pack because they can't get their levels down low enough. ...

Abs should be worked three times a week. Unless you're a ballet dancer, they work theirs six days a week.

Don't fret about the occasional pig-out, You were probably in calorie deficit anyway. :D weakness is Black Forest cake with whipped cream on the side, but I never manage to finish it - too sweet after the usual healthy food. Somewhere out the back of that coffee cafe is a big fat overfed dog sufferi...

Hi Lynn, Your workout journal looks great. Just to assure you that your ab section is on track, as discussed some time ago. While basic crunches don't do much for the abs, the bicycle crunch when done with full cycling of the legs, and a powerful side to side twist, is the single most powerful ab ex...

Really great to see you girls giving it heaps - and increasing intensity and weight. Dedication and focus....Way to go, and the rewards are infinite. "The only way to discover the limits of what is possible, is to go beyond them into what we believe to be impossible..." - quote from Jennif...

Packard's advice is spot on. Note also that distance running will not build leg muscle of the symmetry that a bodybuilder would want - It will strip your legs down to the bare essentials, whipcord muscles of the type that most athletes and fit people would want anyway. Stay away from the grotesque o...

Well, it looks like you're on track so keep on doing what you're already doing and add perhaps a couple more. If you look in the mirror everyday, progress often looks slow, but friends who haven't seen you for a few months can notice the improvement. :)

Just to correct Swanso's remarks, you CAN do straight bar bench press, both wide grip for pecs and narrow grip for triceps without causing further aggravation of the tendons involved in the rotator cuff. This is because in a lying position, much of the strain is removed. However, you will have to re...

Hi there pinkNina, Sorry no one has yet replied to you, so here goes. You do not mention whether you just have a small lower bulge, usually due to fat levels needing to be reduced further, or whether it is post-natal stretch. To get really toned abs, it is more about what you eat than the exercises ...

You should never have to think about your breathing or concentrate on it, it will just come naturally, breathing in and out through both mouth and nose, although mostly through the mouth when intensity rises. The interval plan posted by Boss Man is a good way to increase your aerobic capacity/tidal ...

Supersets

Amazed that no one replied to assist. I only just noticed that. I can give you superset routine for arms only as the triceps and biceps being directly opposed are ideal for supersetting. * v-bar pressdowns * standing EziCurl bar * close grip barbell bench press (hands 4-5 in. apart) * DB hammer curl...

With torn tendons in the shoulder from younger days in tournament karate (not repairable), I can sympathise with rotator cuff impingement. You should not do any overhead work e.g. incline press or standing shoulder press, until it has fully healed. This will not disadvantage you, in that, your progr...
